So yeah, I'm trying to fuse a Surt. I've been at this for hours trying to get Absorb/Repel Phys, Fire Boost, Spell Master, and Mind Charge onto it. Obviously I could forgo one of these but at this point it's a pride thing.
So after an arcane series of fusions (six at least) I get an acceptable set up and click through again and again until finally the blessed set appears. I go to fuse and...

In "Persona Effect" , a new spin-off being developed by the makers of Mass Effect. Bioware has introduced a new mechanic to SMT/Persona universe; following in the steps of Mass Effect you are now able to persuade or threaten people should things not go your way.
For example in the Velvet Room, if Igor screws the pooch on a fusion. Your character can kick over the table and immediately choke Igor - lifting him up in the air ala Darth Vader; Refusing to let him go until he promises to get your Demons back from Compendium free of charge and do the exact fusion over again.
Bioware has told us though, that if you do this too often there may be unknown repercussions.

Igor fucks it up.
Fuck. Everything.
Should've left and saved.
Yeah. I didn't save making the components because I wasn't sure it'd work out. I got dumb when I saw it would and didn't.
As soon as I saw the set show up, I knew I'd fucked up but I couldn't go back after having it appear. I figured the odds were astronomically low that something like that would happen.
I failed to account for the game's very obvious interest in repeatedly kicking me in the balls during this fusion.

It's only a true trifecta of pain if the failed fusion turned into Mara.
In my P4 playthrough the components for Metatron got wasted on a fusion accident. I never had enough cash to resummon the demons wasted throughout the rest of my playthrough, although I was able to finish the game just fine without Metatron's help.
Now go fuse something that nulls force and decimate him. ;-)
Will do.
I've been a bit wary of fusion since the compendium isn't unlocked yet.
But I guess I can't ignore it any longer.
Hopefully next time I post I'm not full of rage. :P
The compendium in Nocturne isn't used quite as often as it is in Persona 3 or 4. There's a lot more varieties of demons, you'll be recruiting a lot more, and you'll be fusing a lot more. I'm pretty sure I never even touched my compendium until near the end of the game on my first playthrough, or if I did it wasn't very often at all.
I think I heard that SCEA has a requirement that games not come out digitally the same time as the UMD release until the PSP Go is out. If that's true, the news isn't too surprising.
It's annoying for me... I want to have the physical pack-in bonus, while also having a digital copy for the faster load times and less battery life used. Not buying the game twice, and I'm not going to hack my PSP to do it. Ah well.

What I did a lot in my Nocturne game was to save, go in, fuse everything I could, buy as many demons as I could afford, fuse more, etc. Then restart.
It would end up being a great crash course in what fusion options were available, to recon out any particularly useful combos, and to familiarize yourself with the demons so you have an idea of their resistances and such.
Shadow Teddie has way too much fucking HP. This is ridiculous. I mean, he's easy as cake as he telegraphs everything in advance with charge or debuff before strike attack patterns so you know exactly what's coming (and guard). He just won't fucking die quick enough.
I used Kanji for the brunt of my offense for that one, since I was tied up spamming Mediarama. A Tarukajaed Kill Rush isn't a half bad way to chip him down.

But yeah. Ganga (Absorb Ice & Mediarama) > Him.
Yeah, it was kind of pathetic, but I was tempted to just turn on auto-battle and walk away for that fight. I forget what persona my MC had, but it was practically impossible for Teddie to kill him, barring some really weird sequence of criticals and missed spells to stop the healing.
What generally got me in that battle the my first time through was the Rakunda/Heat Wave combo he'd do. I'd switch in something else to Dekunda and eat the Heat Wave.
Of course I had Resist Physical on my Ganga this last time and was smart enough not to switch so yeah, triangle.
Finally! The final blow being a Counter'd Heat Wave was satisfying. Congrats Teddie, you killed yourself.
New Game+ I'm hitting Triangle. This time I just had Brotagonist keep everyone alive while Kanji and Yukiko lead the beat on. I should have brought Chie instead of Yosuke for more damage. =\
Who's bright idea was it to give the fucker 5000 HP?!

In new game+? In new game+ you'll kill him with a Debilitate and then have Yoshitsune Power Charge his death attack or use a few mind-charged Dynes or something. Boss fights don't mean crap in new game+.

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

Given Shadow Teddie's introduction it makes sense for him to be such a step above his predecessors.
If you try to tell me you weren't a little put out by the gravelly-voiced spook coming out of that fuzzy pun factory, I will call you a liar.

On the bright side, I think the persona would still have the skills you would have fused onto the Surt. What was it anyway?
Shiki-Ouji. I ended up fixing it and getting the Surt I wanted. The other thing just needed me to condemn Teddie and Yosuke to death to buff the main and debuff the boss.
I've gone out of my way to fuse various persona specialists:
Surt: Ragnarok, Maragidyne, Fire Boost, Fire Amp, Null Ice, Absorb Physical, Spell Master, Mind Charge
Norn: Magarudyne, Wind Amp, Invigorate 3, Auto-Mataru, Auto-Maraku, Auto-Masuku, Repel Elec, Debilitate
Kohryu: Ziodyne, Maziodyne, Elec Boost, Elec Amp, Repel Physical, Mediarahan (to be replaced by Salvation), Samarecarm (to be replaced by Spell Master), Mind Charge
Loki: Bufudyne, Mabufudyne, Niflheim, Ice Boost, Ice Amp, Null Fire, Absorb Wind, High Counter
Sexy
(I also have a Siegfried, but it's hard to get excited over him after my old Yoshitsune)
Matador has been conquered! I got him on my second try.
When he started doing Adaulucia I thought I was pretty much screwed. So it took me by surprise when he just died like three turns later.
I was pretty much like "Holy shit did he really just die!?".
Yeah, the big blessing for that battle is that low HP. Even if he gets you on the ropes following Andalucia, it's entirely possible to limp over the finish line.
does auto rakukaja work on a dude without rakukaja?
I'm not sure what you're asking. Auto-Rakukaja automatically gives you Rakukaja at the start of a fight if you start the fight with that persona equipped.

He's asking if a Persona with Auto-Rakukaja needs normal Rakukaja for it to work. It doesn't, by the way. Auto-Rakukaja and normal Rakukaja are completely seperate skills.

Turns out it wasn't as hard as I'd expected to rebuild the components. Now I've SAVED and it's time for more clicky
oh god I'm never fusing again
Edit: Huzzah! Mercy!
Null Ice
Ragnarok
Maragidyne
Fire Boost
Fire Amp
Absorb Phys
Mind Charge
Spell Master
Been there, done that.

I got my groove back.
(I lied about not fusing anymore)
Especially if you're using Kanji and Chie.

Why yes, I would like to fuse a Norn with Debilitate right out of the box.
It didn't end well...
Now go fuse something that nulls force and decimate him. ;-)
I had a level 79 Norn and +10 in all stats worth of equipment. What the fuck, you dick.
Every single time I've lost since August has been to Megidola or Megidolaon.
What do you want from me
Will do.
