But holy fuck the Protomen:
They started out pretty restrained, just sorta, you know, playing their instruments in place. It sounded really great, though the vocals got lost here and there because there was just so much else going on. But as the crowd warmed up to them (it was a really tiny place, and besides me and about 2 other people there, I think it was mostly Asheville locals who dropped in to see what was up) they got a little more interactive and a little loose and by the time they got to The Sons of Fate, Kilroy was dancing on a table and the guitarists were kick-jumping off walls and shit
They played 2 new songs from Act II, one of which was really hard and driven and sung by the lead guitarist, the other of which was very piano-centric and had something to do with "Emily"; they covered Pat Benatar's "Shadows of the Night" with the guitar solo from "Don't Stop Believing" thrown in; but the best song of the night was definitely Father of Death, they blew the fucking roof off that place
Afterwards I talked to Panther (the lead vocalist) for a few minutes, I told him I was with the radio station and would they like to play in Columbia some time, and he told me to shoot them an e-mail about it; and I talked to the female vocalists (Nightwalker and The Gambler) while I was buying some merch
Loot acquired includes:
2 posters
Act II shirt
Bumper sticker, logo patch
And the Reanimator's drumstick that he broke halfway through the set, duct-taped back together, and tossed into the crowd at the end of the night
Basically this was worth the 2-hour drive both ways
A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.
also this thread just reminded me of how I shared the Protomen with my friends a few years ago and they all said it wasn't that remarkable
I swear sometimes they nearly drive me to alchoholism
Perhaps it is only your friends who are the aforementioned dead?
Zoel on

for a little while I didn't know if it was ok for gamers to listen to this music, but then they made it specifically about games so now I can rest easy

Shank, even though it started with Mega Man, they've really created their own mythos and story with this whole thing, so it's barely even about that any more

Why do you think this?
The first one got an actual physical CD release
Also, my earlier post about the show I saw last night
The decline and fall of the robot empire
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.

my girlfriend, who doesn't like metal or 80's rock at all, even appreciates Will of One as an awesome song
maybe cool it down on the threads
don't do that
e: Kusu: I really don't remember making another thread in the last week or so
I replaced the book thread, but
not their fault, i was just really tired
But he was completely blown away and asked me to send him all of their stuff I have, so I think we have a new convert
avatar thread
oh yeah
uh
but Protomen rock?
My friend said that was the equivalent of 80's guitarists standing back-to-back
Which, actually, the guitarists did last night
edit: one of their guitarists left a couple of months ago but the new one is great and his code name in the band is "Sir Robert Bakker"

whoa hey
you can say that the premise is shitty, the writing is shitty, whatever
but Avatar looks like it'll give you eyeabities
I forgot by camera like a dumbass, but the venue was tiny, so I was only about 10 feet back
The Amazon page for Act II has previews for like, every track
When did this happen?
Also, I don't think the band wanted it that way
is this your way of reaching out
are you... are you touching yourself right now
