FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: “Privateer Press & White Moon Dreams Announce ‘WARMACHINE’ video game at GenCon!” Bellevue, WA August 25, 2009 - Privateer Press announced at GenCon August 14th that they have licensed the rights for a WARMACHINE video game to White Moon Dreams, a videogame developer in Southern California.

The new videogame will allow players to control various warcasters and their warjack battle groups as they fight across interactive battlefields from the WARMACHINE world. The game will also provide a rich online experience in addition to the sweeping single player campaign mode which will follow several key warcasters through the epic saga of the WARMACHINE universe.

When asked about the agreement Privateer Press Chief Creative Officer Matt Wilson said, “It has always been a dream of Privateer to see the characters and world we’ve created step off the table top and into other popular mediums. When WhiteMoon Dreams contacted us and talked about their vision for the WARMACHINE video game, the game they described was exactly like the one I’ve always envisioned in my mind. And I am extremely excited at the chance to work with this group of talented developers and watch as they bring the world of WARMACHINE to life like never before.”

Echoing that sentiment, WhiteMoon Dreams’ Game Director Kevin Mack stated that “Scott [Campbell] and I are huge fans of the Warmachine world. The source material is just fantastic - filled with rich characters, epic stories, and outstanding game design at its core. It’s a natural fit for an immersive videogame experience. When we spoke at length with Matt about our thoughts for the game, it quickly became clear that we shared a vision for what this could be, and that cemented it – this was a game that had to be made.” WhiteMoon Dreams is in the early stages of development for the game’s design, and is courting interested publishers for partnering on Warmachine for marketing and distribution.

I've never played this one although I've heard it's popular at hobby stores. Anyone excited about this?

Well potentially it's a really great property. Warmachine is a steampunk game with steam mechs that pick up enemy troops and throw them, it has a great balance of horror (the cryxian army of fast zombies), coolness(steampunk soviet russians), and humor (there's a troll army with a guy named "Borka Kegslayer" and the troll artillery are caber tossers)

The game could be really great - the tabletop rules are fun and fast and the company is really cool, basically they do everything they can to be the antithesis of Games Workshop (the guys that make 40k)

Anyone got the link to the "tech demo" video from GDC?

It's no longer on the Scaleform site (at least, as far as I can find it).

I'm going to go ahead and say this is the game I'm most excited for, out of everything. (Spending a whole day playing the tabletop version at GenCon will probably show where my loyalties lie. :D )

I've played the Iron Kingdoms pen and paper game based off this, and it's pretty cool. Giant walking steam cathedrals, gunmages and the like. Honestly, it being an adaptation of the boardgame is much less interesting to me than an RPG/adventure game would be, but if this is successful, it could turn into a kickass game franchise, so thumbs up regardless.

I'm an avid Warmchine player, but it's a new game from a small studio. I don't see it being fun for anyone but fans.
