a couple people up at that camp did coke the last night

talking with one of them was the most entertaining thing ever

he was just so... enthusiastic about everything. such a fun conversation.

of course he was also constantly grinding his teeth and biting his lip and just looking extremely nervous. coke seems like such a dirty goddam drug, and it was really weird that people were doing it at camp--this beautiful spot in the woods where you know everyone really well and... I dunno. it's a grimy drug. but it was fun as hell to talk to these dudes while they were on coke.

really? none of the first-timers I've smoked with have gotten high much at all, and I didn't myself my first time

not for want of trying, of course. I think it just takes a bit to learn how to smoke
yeah i didn't articulate very well

they try and get you sooooo high

and it rarely works if you have no idea how to smoke

it creates a stressful situation that is generally not fun when a psychoactive drug you've never experienced before is running around your brain

that's been my experience at least

its cheaper to buy weed than it is for a prescription for my, heh, chronic sinus headaches in the US

my prescription goes for 3 dollars and 50 cents in Canada

    welp

That's only because our death squads needed to know if you had any allergies or such.

Now they can kill you when the time comes and make it seem like an accident.

    Awesome.

to be quite honest if your parents are doing something more serious than pot and you're not old enough to drive you should probably tell somebody about it

    Unintended consequences!
A mother and father in Caroline County, Maryland, were jailed for 30 days after their daughter informed a police D.A.R.E. instructor that her parents had marijuana plants in their home, according to a story in The Washington Post in January 1993. The Wall Street Journal reported in 1992 that ‘In two recent cases in Boston, children who had tipped police stepped out of their homes carrying D.A.R.E. diplomas as police arrived to arrest their parents.’ In 1991, 10-year-old Joaquin Herrera of Englewood, Colorado, phoned 911, announced, ‘I'm a D.A.R.E. kid’ and summoned police to his house to discover a couple of ounces of marijuana hidden in a bookshelf, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The boy sat outside his parents' home in a police patrol car while the police searched the home and arrested the parents. The policeman assigned to the boy's school commended the boy's action."

Yes, if parents are spending all day fucked up on crack or heroin, they should have their kids taken away and never be allowed to breed again.

However, DARE makes absolutely no distinction between crack and adult-strength ibuprofen. When impressionable children are indoctrinated with shit like that, bad things are going to happen.

That's not the message I meant to convey but my post wasn't really clear.

DARE's philosophy of "all drugs are equally dangerous and evil" combined with its philosophy of "you should report all illegal drug use no matter how benign (shit, scratch that, there are no benign drugs)" can lead to children inadvertantly destroying their families, and possibly ruining their own lives in the process.

of course there are benign drugs

they are the ones made in large factories in china under license from american pharmaceutical companies

The child enters the Foster care system and is molested by his foster father.

DARE declares the system a success.

in the end it does end up being cheaper by about 3,000 dollars, yes

Are you factoring in financial aid and scholarships? Because there's no way the tuition is cheaper. You've already mentioned your tuition here and it was like twice what a state school runs.
yeah i am factoring in scholarships, because they're helping me pay, you know!

Well that doesn't count, silly. If you got good grades there are plenty of schools that would have given you scholarships in the US. I could have gone to Dayton for free and their tuition is twice what my school's was. But that would have involved you know...going to fucking Dayton.

some of us have to live here you know
