Yeah, I expect Sinestro to remain firmly in the sympathetic supervillain camp. He can no more reform or die than Lex Luthor, Joker, Zoom, or uhh.. Cheetah, I guess.
Actually, why the Hell doesn't Wonder Woman have a readily identifiable arch-villain?
I don't know. Her rogues gallery is just really bland. I've been following the book since the relaunch, and the most interesting villain she's faced was that guy, the Wanderer or whatever he called himself, in the arc where she lost her soul. In fact, that was the best arc in the whole run. But perhaps we should take this discussion to the Wonder Woman thread.

Its been a long, long time since I've read his run, but I think Perez went to a lot of work to establish Ares as WW's primary arch-villain.

I split out the Wonder Woman stuff into her thread. Lets talk about it there, as I think we can get some good discussion about her rogues gallery (or lack thereof).
If Sinestro survives, he gets put on trial and inevitably given a death sentence. There's no way he gets forgiven. That would be a total travesty.
Am I the only one who thinks Sinestro, personality-wise, would be extremely against anything that let him back into the good graces of the GLC? To be given a slap on the wrist and a Green Power Ring would be the very opposite of everything he stood for; everything he fought for.
It might be a horrible analogy, but Socrates had the chance to escape before his execution. He refused, because while he didn't feel he was harming the State, escaping would, and thus abhorrent to him.
Sinestro genuinely believes that the GLC is the only body capable of protecting the universe*, from any and all threats. One of those threats is Sinestro himself, and he knows it.
Now, if I was running things at DC? I'd keep Sinestro alive somehow, and reform the SN into a smaller group of Lanterns that functioned, roughly, like a bunch of Outer Space Batmen. The relationship between the GLC and the SC would be akin to Superman and Batman.
* It's prolly just my fanwank, but I took a lot of Sinestro's speechifying to his troops in Sinestro Corps War to be full-on bullshitting. "We will instill our OWN order!" raises his people's morale, "You WILL be killed, en masse, and the universe will be better for it!" doesn't.
I think hes probably going to be reborn as a blue lantern, possibly with the Blue Lantern avatar. Most likely after Guy Rages out as a red Lantern, with Kyle's new blue powers being able to either stabilize or remove the rage from Guy. I mean Kyle's already been host to two lantern avatars, and the Blue Lanterns would be the most likely be the most able to revive somehow.

Then you get into a situation of "someone dies? Why arent they using the blue lanterns?"
Kyle comes back from the "other side" representing "life". Not a White Lantern per se, but since he gave his life to save everyone on Oa- he'd be "at peace". How better to bring him back than that?
I actually liked the Outsiders BN Tie-in issue this week. Partly because it was written by Tomasi and partly because it continues the story of Tara from the Titans crossover.
I do have a question regarding the issue though:
As readers, are we supposed to assume that Tara was telling the truth in respect to her being able to "fight off" the impulses of the Black Ring? Was Tara's actual consciousness in control of her body, or was that simply a big ruse by the Black Lanterns to draw the Outsiders in, only to rip out their hearts later down the road?

It's all a ruse, since we know that the Black Lanterns are only programs lifted from the host's last memories; they don't have souls or feelings.
I mean, it was even prefaced with Terra saying that Geo-Force has a big heart filled with emotions that she looks forward to eating.
since black lanterns primarily only use the powers and memories of their hosts, you could say that Terra being deceptive to earn the Outsiders' trust is a display of the black lantern using terra's own manipulative personality and history.

Are we still having to spoiler for Kyle?
I was thinking this same thing kinda. Just like when Buffy was resurrected in Season 6 and later found out that they pulled her out of heaven. Oops!
I do think that the Hope Avatar would be a good choice, especially to calm down Guy.
I'm still thinking that Sinestro is going to end up as a Green Lantern again. For some reason the Sinestro Corps can't continue or something? And the GL Corps refuse to let the Guardians come back so they form their own ruling council and Sinestro is welcomed into it.
"Hey, remember when you formed an organization that annihilated entire planets and murdered hundreds of our brothers and sisters? Well because you helped us out (not really because your ass was on the line too) all is forgiven! Welcome back".
That is stupid.
Again, sounds a lot like Hal to me. You never know.
Now without going back and rereading the issues boxed up, IIRC one of the big reasons that he left the GL and formed SC was because of Abin Sur's whole Blackest Night obsession. He was trying to prepare the GLs before it was too late. He pretty much says this when Hal is talking to him in the science cell when the new laws are being announced.
Well after this event is over one of his big reasons for doing everything he has done recently is gone.
Now granted I need to reread it, but IIRC that's the general ideas behind the SC. It kinda just makes sense.
This opens up a great way from him to reform and rejoin the corps. But I agree, he is one of the best villians DC has so I doubt it will happen.
Can he become a Doom-like figure, where one on hand he rules an area, where it might not be the best of conditions, but it's tolerable and he's basically allowed this, but on the other he's still a villain and frequently engages in villainous things?
And along those lines maybe Amon Sir comes back and takes up the kind of status that Sinestro had as main GL villain?

About Kyle:
I was chatting up the wife and I said the following. "If the cover solicits are anything to go buy, Super Dr. Girlfriend will revive him next issue." She lost it laughing.
i figure sinestro will follow the path to redemptin and everyone will be like yeah sinestro is good lets kick some BL ass. then he backstabs them at the end with the old, this is my show now get out all while twirling his moustache.

And that would be AWESOME. I think with some 'other' folks being Lanterns of another stripe it's possible we'll have a balkanized DC space with the different Corps running different sectors. You know, Sinestro corps offering their protection racket, etc, etc.
Next question. Who the hell would make a deal with Atrocitous or Larfleeze. Sinestro, Star Sapphires, ya I can see that. But whoa.

If the Guardians come out of this as anything other than the GL leaders, maybe Atrocitus will accept something from Salaak or Kilowog like they did with Larfleeze.

Nice. And maybe they'll have a informal Council of Lanterns. Maybe we'll get mix teams based on treaties. Assuming that they won't be at each other's throats all the time. Imagine Vil Drox with some GLs? Or a Blue/Red/Green team. Etc.

Maybe he can write the inevitable next volume of Martian Manhunter, post resurrection. Or hey, now that Morrison's made Jason Todd interesting again, Tomasi can write a Red Hood book, filling the murderous superhero niche formerly occupied by Vigilante.
Hopefully DC doesn't pull a Chris Gage and stick him on a bunch of Wildstorm books nobody reads.

I'll admit. I was hoping for a post Blackest Night GL story arc where Abominous got pushed out of leadership of the Red Lanterns by new recruits who actually know how to control and channel they're hate.
New Faces of Hate, etc. I think cold blooded hatred fueled badasses would really run the GL's through the wringer.

Atrocitus.
Abominous is the name of the next obviously named villain, along with Malevolo, Dismalis, Horribliktus, Menacetress.

I hope they defeat his mustache only for it to come back as a Black Lantern.
No man should have that kind of power.(Twitter)

Twirly 'stache of Sinestro.
Rise.
YEEESSSSSSSSSS
And it would be all unkempt and full of split ends, as an undead moustache should be.

well so much for that

If he does a Creeper mini I would buy it. Also something in the vein of Light Brigade again (with Snejberg).
My bet is on Batman or Detective Comics after Rucka's 12 issue run.
Sturges, Gates and Tomasi should all do more stuff so Johns has less things to ruin these days.
