So I picked up Planet Earth on DVD finally. I am a horrible person though, and don't have a Blu-ray player, so these 5 hours I've delved into are only 1% less visually orgasmic. However, I did make sure to get the BBC version so it's narrated by this guy:

(The one on the right)
Gonna pick up Walking with Dinosaurs, WwDinosaurs: Allosaurus, and Walking with Prehistoric Monsters next, because they're still cheap (Did I forget to mention that? If you're missing parts of your massive natural sciences documentary collection, Amazon and Walmart both seem to be having a nice sale of sort. Regular and hi-def DVDs alike)
I skipped out on Blue Planet, if only because I'm limited on cash, and it's not up there as my top favorite. But maybe one day.
So what's your Discovery / BBC / Nat Geo fix? Moments you like? How many times can we watch a 20' shark leap it's entire body length out of the water and not get tired of it?

whoops
I was trying to think of a joke along that line.
I hate you now for succeeding where I have failed.
sadly I don't have cable or really any tv in my new home
I love me some mythbusters, cash cab, and dirty jobs

Really though, this was a really good watch, if only to see that orchids are the bastardiest bastard plants of them all.

You are everything that is wrong with the world. You know that right? You're basically Hitler.
I don't really care about narrators, I'm just making a general observation
I have the Planet Earth Blu Ray but Blue Planet was better I though.
That is amazing.
The chainsaw part feels like a joke.
although Planet Earth is great, one little gripe I have is how they tend to cover the same regions multiple times and even use some of the same footage over for different segments. For example, From Pole to Pole of course covers the polar regions but so does Ice Worlds and they even show the same footage of the mother polar bear and cubs emerging from their den in both. I also get a little tired of all the superlatives he uses during Planet Earth, even in the same episode.
"This place has the most species in the world."
"This coastal region is the most productive in the world."
"These ladies have the rudest titties in the world."
i am constantly fascinated by the different ways the universe could potentially fuck us over
Yeah, the chainsaw bit is just crazy.
If it wasn't from the BBC I would have thought that part was some kooky edit.
The bird starts playing the Benny Hill theme.
Giant Squid:
It was a few pictures like this. Beyond cool, really (until that asshole 'Colossal Squid' showed up and whored the spotlight), but not worth an hour of build up and titilating "Will we get it on tape? Won't we?"
and Raising the Mammoth:
They were still good to watch at least once though, since Mythbusters was on next.

Louis Theroux is awesome
I watched some documentary of his on hypnotists that use it to get women and those "we'll help you get rich, just pay us $texas" people. He was driving to the second group of people's thing with a guy who had bought into it and was constantly laying seeds of doubt in his mind, and by the end of the thing you could see that he was hesitating to answer.

So... yeah.
The idea of hypnotists actually using their talents to score is kind of horrifying.
It led me to finding this little gem.
