Tony Hawk 3 was also quite a looker at the time

And the framerate was so smooth at the time that I thought it was actually too smooth

So what if Pig Lars and Gene Simmons appear? So there'll be cutscenes you can probably skip?

Has this affected the usual GH career of score x stars to unlock next tier and then play songs just once to unlock everything in quickplay? That would piss me off, but it hasn't happened yet.

To do the same thing in Rock Band 2 was a chore. Swapping staff, playing mystery setlists where songs just repeat ad nauseum (when everlong appeared twice in several setlists, and killed my enthusiasm for that song). Apparently playing decade setlists would unlock everything, but this was not made apparent by either the game or the manual. Lots of wasted time, replaying lots of songs over and over again.

So I'm not even remotely bothered by the new things in GH. I'll buy it if I like the songs, same reason I have GH Metallica and Beatles RB, but won't pick up the Van Halen/Green Day discs.

This is so fucking horrible. I mean, this is on a level with Super Mario Bros.: The Movie. John Leguizamo and Bob Hoskins were so defeated by what they were doing that they sat in each other's trailers drinking bottles of whiskey, saying repeatedly "what the fuck are we doing?"

The sad difference here is that I bet no one at Neversoft has reached that point.

Woah, is that Super Mario Bros. anecdote true? Because that's awesome.

And I wouldn't be shocked if people at Neversoft really do feel like they're flailing around rather than coming up with something worthwhile, but thanks to tight deadlines they don't really have time to come up with anything other than turning the player into a pig.

I'm curious too if thats true. Although I think I remember liking that movie

I used to have that attitude with music games, until I realized Harmonix tends to get all of the 'exclusive' GH tracks as DLC the week after launch. The only exclusive Activision still have that I like is Ozzy Osbourne, and they pissed that exclusivity away when they didn't release any DLC and only gave us Crazy Train, Mr Crowley and if you were one of the 2 people to buy Smash hits, Bark at the Moon.

I know they're putting the Ozzy and Metallica collaboration on Iron man into GH6, but FFS, I'd kill for Fire in the Sky. Hopefully Harmonix grabs some of his stuff soon too.

I wasn't looking at the exclusive angle, as GH has a whole Metallica game while RB has 2 full Megadeth albums, so both games are keeping me happy for content.

Both games have things that rub me up the wrong way, GH5 was fairly unfocused and half the setlist has gone unplayed since I finished the career and Rock Band sometimes mess up charting (theres no guitar or drum chart for the intro to Iron Maiden's Aces High, Lazy Eye is significantly harder on RB), so harmonix getting a song does not automatically make me jump for joy.

Damn, I can't find the actual interview. I forget if it was Hoskins or Leguizamo who admitted that bit, but here's Hoskin's brief take on the film from an interview:

"The worst thing I ever did? Super Mario Brothers. It was a fuckin' nightmare. The whole experience was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife team directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent. After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set! Fuckin' nightmare. Fuckin' idiots."

I have never seen this film. I might have to.

Super Mario Bros. is better than a Uwe Boll film. That's about it though...

I remember being so excited when it finally came out on VHS and my mom rented it for me.... then the soul cushing disappointment. The Captain Picard "WTF is this shit" jpeg sums it up pretty well.

Brett Ratner, the twit hired by Activision to remake that scene in Risky Business over and over and over and over and OVER, said he wanted to make a Guitar Hero movie at one point.

Maybe they should make one based on the current plot? In the right hands, that could be the most awesomely horrible thing since The Room.

So if I use my left hand for the buttons and my right hand for strumming, is that lefty? I'm right handed, but that's just how I got used to using the guitar.

That makes you a righty for guitar playing purposes. For guitar, the dominant hand is more important for the strum. Fretting is mostly just muscle memory, but you need to make sure you're hitting the right strings at the right time on the strum.

Some folks have historically altered their handedness whilst playing an instrument, but it's pretty rare.
