If DNS works with the OpenDNS servers then it's a matter of setting the right IP addresses for the DNS servers. Look through your manual for specifics on how to set your routers DNS entries it hands out via DHCP.

Well. I have been doing some research and I think I want to set up my local DNS services but I have no idea how to go about this. I do have a spare box I could install linux on to act as the server if need be but people say they use their own router as the DNS server.

Your router should be getting your ISPs DNS servers IP addresses when it is assigned a public IP address via DHCP (automatic assignment); therefore, when you get your IP address assigned automatically (you are getting it assigned automatically, right?) you will get either (1) your ISPs DNS servers IP addresses set as your DNS server or, (2) your routers IP address set as your DNS server. If you're still having problems you will need to more clearly articulate what your problem is. You do not need to run a DNS server at your house.
