Does anyone here have any experience in unlocking a virgin mobile cellphone for use on other networks? I'm thinking of getting a V3 razr from them and using it on another network at a later date. Anyone know if I can do this?
They cast a shadow like a sundial in the morning light. It was half past 10.
Is this legal?
I'm completely ignorant of the network-unlocking legality situation.
If it's illegal your probably not gonna hear much advice on this board.
I recall something on engadget about how the patent office or someone ruled that companies must unlock phones for you. I wish i could find that article for you. try calling virgin and see what they say
Seeing as people like to put something other than their location in the box that says "Location", I can't tell where the hell your from. Which matters, when there's a Virgin mobile in the UK and in the US, and I suspect in some other countries.
In the UK, you had to go through some bullshit of putting £30 on the phone and then calling them, and they send you an unlock code. It might be different now.
I hope that was applicable to you, because there's no way for me to tell.
To unlock my (UK) Virgin mobile handset, I called them and asked for the unlock code. They make a big deal about it, and you have to wait 30 days, but they will just send you the code in the post.
As it turns out, it was useless to me (because of the 30 day wait). I was travelling to Africa and wanted to just buy an MTN SIM so I could use the handset out there. I just paid $10 to a mobile phone shop in Nairobi, who unlocked it for me.
There is almost certainly an establishment near you that will unlock your phone for a small fee.

Guess what? People can put whatever they want in their profiles as long as it doesn't violate any rules. You can make your location "Fuck you VC", no one gives a shit (don't get your hopes up though, I'm unlikely to consent). So, drop it. Forever. If I see that kind of retardedness again, from anyone, bad things.

My apologies, good sir. A momentary lapse in a normally calm demeanor. 't'won't happen again.
