Well, after trying the reset idea, I can get onto the GTS for a bit (though I lost connection somehow), but it doesn't seem to be very stable connection wise. I'm not sure if that's the fault of my router, though. My computer seems to be connected just fine.

It's probably been answered in here and sorry for asking again if that's the case, but is there any way to get these Event things -after- the day of? Or is it pretty much you snooze (or didn't have wireless when the goddamn things were going around and couldn't get to a hotspot area because hell, you have things to do) you lose?

The event item for Shaymin is available until November. You have plenty of time to get it. The item's supposed to only be for Platinum. Has anyone with Diamond or Pearl actually tried to go onto wifi for it, though?

Just rented Platinum for something (sorta) new to put in my Lite and to tide me over until Soul Silver. While the game gets off to a MUCH faster start than Diamond and Pearl, I still have to ask why the game is so freaking slow compared with the lightning-quick awesome that was Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. The game's framerate on the "overworld" also seems to positively chug. I know the dev team has never set their technical goals any higher than "adequate", but has their lack of ambition finally bit us all on the ass or what?
Are you talking about the "jaggies" or the lagging polygons or what? I would chalk that up to it being 3D. I don't find it any slower than Yellow, the only other Pokemon game I've played. Heck it's a bit faster since you can run.

Lower framerate, slowdown in some areas, slower menus, slower saving, yeah, this gen is pretty slow all in all. Battle speed is about the same for the most part though.

DPP is absolutely slower than the older Pokemon games. It's the worst thing about the DS titles. Maybe not so much as far as the overworld is concerned, but definitely in the interface and battles, even with animations disabled.

A decent amount of that comes from the fact that most gba games don't have suspend modes...
Diamond is well over 300 hours though.
