Saving embedded flash content

Not trying to snag anything illegally. Team Genius used to host this mp3 on their website, but it looks like they decided to stop paying the server costs sometime last year. The video is all over the website, but they also recorded a "clean" version of the mp3 that doesn't include the rest of the sketch on the audio. The only place I've been able to find it:

http://videogame2play.com/2008/08/05/donkey-kong-country-rap/

What do I have to do, if it's possible at all, to snag the audio from the first piece of embedded flash content? (Not the video).

Also, if you haven't watched Boyfriends by Team Genius before, please do so now. You can answer my question after you've watched the hair, Donkey Kong AND the watermelon sketch.

What is this I don't even.

    you just want the audio?

download Audacity and record it, then save as an mp3

That would work, but I'm pretty sure there's an easier way. (Plus it would probably result in some sound quality loss, right?) I know sometimes you can view the objects embedded in a page using your web browser and grab them that way, but it's not working for this flash applet.

No, I think that's the easiest way to do it.

Fair enough then. I guess this is solved, barring anyone crawling out of the woodwork with a different answer.

I used a little program called VideoCacheView (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/video_cache_view.html).

It lets you see details on cached media files from your browser and copy them elsewhere or see their source link. Copying didn't work on this mp3 file for some reason but the real link wasn't restricted so that worked.

    No, no not really.

Download either Wireshark or Fiddler (Fiddler requires IE without some advanced configuration)... hit up the Flash page, look for the MP3 request in the list of requests made when visiting the page, paste in the URL, profit.

This is what Charles does as well (http proxy) though that works great with most browsers. And is a Java app so you can use it on mac or PC.

I sometimes use Fiddler at work but I like the Charles UI much better.

I prefer Wireshark because it monitors the device instead of the port, but it requires some know-how to configure the filters.
