The PS2 version is preferable, but the Wii version is perfectly decent if the former isn't practical.

As long as you don't mind the paintbrush controls never ever ever working like they should for the following

    Warps

    Day/Night

Mandatory fucking cinema scenes that take ten minutes and auto fail you

About the only thing that works is the slashing.

To be honest, once you start getting more techniques they get fiddly even on the PS2 version. The number of times I've drawn a circle to bloom something, only to pull a spiral of water, or a spiral of fire, or cause the wind to blow.

Gonna have to disagree about the Wii version being bad. Most of the moves work fine. There is the occasional frustration but once you get used to it there are few problems. Also, I dunno if the PS2 version was widescreen or not but the Wii version is.

Today, just today, I was seeing a copy of Okami in EB and thinking... "I would murder my entire street if it would get me an Okami sequel. Maybe on the DS, for awesome fucking painting."

I guess I have some work to do then.

Edit: So while I have an apparent psychic link with the Gods, are there any other requests out there?

I'll take a sequel on the Wii

Did they flat out not work 90% of the time on PS2? That was my Wii experience

My other gripe is the clover team credits were removed entirely so the people who actually made the game got no credit

They worked fine for me on the PS2 almost all of the time.

Super looking forward to this. However as the non JP release dates are all 'TBA 2011' getting too pumped now is only going to lead to frustration and risk excitement burnout.

You had to learn how to do them to maximize their success rate. If you wanted guarantee a slash you needed to make the line longer (otherwise if you started on an element you might just draw a line of it), the moon I always had to draw with square corners (ie, "]"), when blooming stuff the success rate depended largely on what the background was; if it started on an element there was a 50% chance you'd draw a swirl of that element instead, if the background was the sky there was a large chance you'd get a sun, there was always a chance you'd just get wind regardless of what precautions you took, etc.

I've yet to play the Wii version, so I can't comment on how they compare.

Sorry, no update on the actual Okamiden game, but this was too cute to not bump the thread for (more pictures, plus a pillow and bookcover):

Sadly, looks like it will be Japan-only.

Might be posting in the wrong thread, but Okami HD on psn just got a price drop. I just started re-playing it and it looks amazing in HD. If you haven't picked it up, you should!
