    Ah, okay. My mistake.

I guess that one game has it.

It's like custom music. Since they built it so the game itself needs to find the music and play it instead of the firmware playing the music with the game, developers need to build the functionality into the game themselves, and not many do. It seems the functionality also exists in the PSP firmware (or will soon), since Motorstorm Arctic Edge will have custom soundtracks. But, again, Sony doesn't force the issue, so it doesn't get used.

Well, one game on both systems support custom soundtracks right now at least. Wipeout HD and Wipeout Pulse

The PSP GTA games had custom soundtracks, but it involved a ridiculously complex process to get it working.

edit: And I'm with UnbreakableVow, Sony should make the custom soundtracks, at least, and multiple accounts mandatory. EA can go to Hell. :P

    I really hope you're joking...

Anyway, it seems like firmware 3.0 is now the cause of every fault anyone's ever had on the PS3. I hear it even went back in time and created HIV and cancer.

These are the two problems I've read about so far:
Users report Firmware 3.0 causing Uncharted freezes
Firmware 3.00 blamed for malfunctioning PS3 controllers

Are there any free dynamic themes up on the US store? I don't want to make a Japanese account for just one theme.

I guess it sounds like more when you consider that counts for half of the total number of games I've played online like that...

Nearly 20 PS3 games support it, actually, though it's still annoying that it needs to be built into the game. I didn't know Wipeout Pulse on PSP did though.

    Okay two problems:

    1. For whatever reason now my background is CONSTANTLY PURPLE/PINK. In addition to the sparkles my PS3 has just become super gay, apparently.

    2. There is a Playstation Store icon under every fucking menu and it always defaults to it. OKAY SONY I GET IT YOU HAVE A STORE WHERE I CAN GIVE YOU MONEY. Sheesh.

you can change the background colour (and whether it has sparkles or not) under theme settings

also you can change whether it defaults to 'what's new' or not. that way it should boot to whatever you had selected last

Well discovered something nice in this update. Now you can listen to music and browse at the same time. Along with in browser xmb. If I hadn't spent the last 2 days trying to get braviax off my system I probably wouldn't have cared though.

you could do that all along

Wait how? Before I was able to play a song and then press the PS button and go back to browsing my music but now when I press it it says "do you want to quit play back?".

I'm also not liking if I'm looking at a list then makes everything around it totally disappear. Maybe a slight transperancy would be cool but not all the way. Bah to this.

I was playing Rock Band 2 last night (first time I've played a game since the new update), and it really sucks that it makes the whole background black now with in-game XMB, instead of just having it be darkened and transparent.

Odd, all my games still have the darkened effect same as last patch.

I know what feature I want in 3.01 now. I want to be able to change the font color. Using the Afrika theme, or some of the older ones, you have white font with a white glowing outline on a while or bright background. Good luck reading anything

You can turn down the brightness of the theme to make the text more legible. -3 is about the sweet spot for the Afrika theme.

Black is not an option... and black only ever seems to happen when it randomly decides to use it under the "original" setting. Fucking stupid.

Though so far it only wants to be purple.

I know that the classic theme at least changes colors according to the day, and you can set it at black with the brightness set to -5. Try that instead of an actual black choice

Not as far as I know. The PSN website is confusing and unusable, even if you just want to check the new releases.

It's apparently a freezing issue associated with the way the game does autosaves.

An interim solution appears to be to disable them.

Interesting, I'm playing fallout 3 and I think autosaving might be causing some problems too.

But I also get the feeling fallout 3 isn't exactly the least buggy piece of software in the world either.

You mean how the framerate slows down to a crawl while autosaving? Yeah, that's not new. I think I turned autosaving off in it, before my game froze and I lost like 3-5 hours of game time...

I've just been playing Fallout 3 for a couple of hours without any issues.
I've found it to be pretty stable since the patch actually, no major framerate drops and none of the freezing every forty minutes that was going on before.
It still does freeze very occasionally though.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the update? Well, aside from the friends list, which looks horrid now, and I wish I could turn off the extra Playstation store buttons, but overall, I can't really find anything I don't like. Especially the bigger fonts - I'm on a 32" TV, so more readable text is welcome.

I just wish they had made stuff like that options (even if they are turned on by default) for those of us that liked the font size and non-backgrounded friends list. And as much as I would love to get rid of the PS Store buttons I don't think there is any chance of those becoming toggle-able in the future.
