I think he's like a version of Peter Molynaux with worse ideas, and less capability to deliver on those ideas, and less idea of how to not come across as a prick from time to time.
Peter Molyneux, for all his faults, is infinitely superior to D. Smart in all possible ways. That doesn't amount to much, of course. It's like saying that something smells better than poop that was actually vomit eaten by a diseased goat before turning into poop.
Absolutely, I meant he has all of Peter Molyneux's flaws, only worse, and none of his (obvious) redeeming qualities.
Then that's really an unfair comparison. They both have grand ideas, but at least one manages to hit the dartboard when he throws, even if it's not the triple 20 he was aiming for.
The other one's outside twirling around with a javelin in each hand and pants around his ankles while a cordon of police officers figure out exactly how to bring the situation to as safe a conclusion as possible.

Those aren't "bugs", you just can't appreciate the way the game was designed to work.

Populous, Syndicate, Magic Carpet, and Theme Park.
Smart has never, and will never, produce anything to compare with those.
Pete-y poos may have lost his way post Bullfrog, but ... Bullfrog!
Those games are subjectively good, it's typical that no-brain idiots would use "popular opinion" as a guide to what games they're supposed to like.
3000AD's games are brilliant for anyone that isn't a moron who can't think without being TOLD what to think.
I still have all those CDs. I only occasionally think about installing Populous, but the rest of them have had a place on various HDs for years.
The Theme Park intro still plays in my brain occasionally.
