Rock Band for the PS2 is a mistake. No custom characters, no DLC, no online... it's less than half the game, in my opinion.

    Primus has it right.

I have a friend in Jersey who only has the PS2 version because she only has a PS2, and it's part of a weekly torture regiment to tell her what new songs come out every week.

Champions of Norrath is a great Diablo clone, and it allows 4 player same screen co-op. There's a sequel too, Return to Arms, but I haven't played it yet - been trying to get a copy for awhile now.

2 pages in and no one has mentioned Sly Racoon?

    Shame on you.

It was in Slash's uberlist, so I guess you're forgiven for missing it. :P

Also, OP hates platforming and fun for some reason, so it hasn't been reiterated.

    Well then...carry on.

Sly is great if you can ignore that it's a cast of furries that flirt. Damn you, furries, for ruining anthropomorphic animals!

Indigo Prophecy, while it ends in a shitty manner, was overall a pretty fun ride. I'm glad I played it and I'm really glad that it exists.

I think Heavy Rain will absolutely demolish it, naturally.

Completely agree with this. I'd recommend Indigo Prophecy for the same reasons.

I always recommend Psi-Ops (good on you for grabbing it, Sueve. :^: ) for exactly the same reason, too. While the story is nothing special, and the ending is difficult, the start of it more than makes up for it. Especially when you go back into it with All Powers and Super Psi and just absolutely demolish everything.

Over and over and over again.

Psi-Ops was so good. Was so pissed that it didn't sell enough copies to warrant a sequel.

Seriously. It's one of my favorite 3rd person action games on the PS2. And the PS2 had some serious third person action games.

Everything about PsiOps was so awesome and well implemented. Except the aurabeasts but that was the game's only fault among the entire game, which was otherwise fantastic.

    INVISIBLE MINES

    But that aside, completely agree.

Edit: That's one of the biggest reasons I was looking forward to SW: TFU. I thought it was going to, basically, be Psi-Ops 2 with Lightning instead of Fire. (And, y'know, a Star Wars story.)

    It was not.

There's enough brilliance in Indigo Prophecy for it to be worth the 10-12 dollars that it goes for. When you think about it like that instead of the release day price, your opinion of a lot of games can totally change.

Almost all the games I've bought have cost 4 dollars like new on amazon plus 4 bucks shipping.

Which is why I always stay one generation behind with consoles. Costs about 10% as much and I always have the pick of the litter.

Well duh, we could all wait like you do. We could even afford to be a little more liberal than you, and just wait a few weeks for a game to drop in price. But video games and movies are the sort of medium where time is of the essence, for some reason. Big releases you see when they come out, big games you play when they come out. Movies are starting to thin that gap between home release and theater. What can you do with a game but wait?

    Point is, we're impatient.

I already have the perfect PS2 library

    Gitaroo Man

    FFX

    BoF: Dragon Quarter

    FFX-2

    Dragon Quest VIII

    MGS3: Snake Eater

    Ico

I guess you could throw in MGS2 and SotC if you liked the other two games.

If you like Role Playing Games, Summoner is amongst the best on the console. I can't recommend it highly enough. Be warned, though, its a launch title, and the camera/draw distance are not all that hot.

It is, however, very unique. I can't say I've ever played a game thats really like it at all.

Most of my recommendations are probably already said, but I'll just say that if you like fighting games at all, get Guilty Gear XX Accent Core+.

Great fighting game system, and actually has a pretty good story mode.

If you're a boxing game fan Victorious Boxers is by far one of the best ever released.

Fight Night took the lean and punch from any angle mechanic from it. Even though it's an anmie story, it's still one of the best boxing sims out there, mechanics wise. Seriously.

I really enjoyed the storyline in Indigo Prohpecy, its written by Orson Scott Card. The ending is awful though because it was supposed to be a 3 part series but the game didn't sell well enough and they scrapped the other parts. Really disappointing.

This is slightly off topic but I saw this on slickdeals:
    * Logitech Cordless Action for PlayStation 2 $30 - $20 coupon logi_caps_82109 = $10
Lowest on Google Products for a non-dented box/non-refurbished version is $30

That controller was recommended to me as the best for the PS2.
