I'm finding that there isn't much custom content like previous iterations of the Sims. Does anyone know a decent site with custom skins ?

Stuff has to be made first. Hasn't it only been two or three months? Give it some more time.

The creators have made it very difficult to add content to the game. Your best bet is to hit modthesims and check there.

So, in a series known for add-ons/expansions/customization, they removed one of them?

Well, EA is making a serious attempt at selling their content to you now, and at silly prices the last time I checked. They can't very well have people making their own stuff for free! :)

It's not actually much harder to make stuff at all, as far as I can tell. It just takes time for people to make tools that can do everything and the game's only been out since June. There's more custom content available for Sims 3 now than there was for Sims 2 for the first few months. New furniture is already appearing, new hairstyles, etc. It's early days yet.
