Something I've noticed on a lot of Japanese tourney vids is that the players allow the character intros to finish for each player, instead of skipping straight to the fight.

Also, they allow the 1st/2nd round win poses to fully conclude, as opposed to US games where players skip everything as fast as possible.

It's an interesting cultural difference. Personally I wish they had disabled the option to skip the winpose. I always loved the different vibes characters gave away through the win poses. Ken is cocky, Ryu is calm, Blanka is ferocious etc.

I like seeing the different personalities, and it's too bad that you can skip some of the stuff that really gives life to the characters.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

I do believe Dan does a special victory thingy for defeating Sakura.

He cries and feels bad after. It's great.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. One of the best things about the KOF series is how it showed the relationships between the characters by their special intros and wins versus each other.

Ralf vs Clark is classic: "Ikuzo Clark! Hoh! CROSS CHANGER!"

I know that SF4 has the special audio in Rival matches, but it's too bad they couldn't have included it for regular versus matches.

Quick question for you, how are you recording all your YouTube vids? I'm souping up an old computer I have here so I can bring it out to our tournaments and record some quality videos. I don't want to do HD since I don't feel like upgrading the processor or buying $700 worth of hard drives.. is it just a Dazzle or something like that?

dude my favorite was clark + ralf, but to be honest, the best intro was in KOF 02'.

If you had iori vs. billy, billy would do his normal, "HEY, HEY, HEY!" intro but Eiji would fade in and out behind him, just crossing his arms and looking cool like Akuma.

Then he would fade back away into the distance.

This is great backstory stuff, Iori was to have apparently killed Eiji, but it was later found he went into exile to train for kof 2003 ;)

This one isn't my favorite, there's just a lot more variety in this one.

The best ones are with the Fatal Fury arc and N.E.S.T arc.

    Dear Saikyo Master,

Why do you spend all your time with a furry green Brazillian man named Jimmy? He sounds like he should be a comic book sidekick, not a Saikyo master's goon. And what's up with Sakura? You should tap that.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Goukabel,

Jimmy is an old friend whose friendship I cherish. He's also the reason I still have power in the dojo. There's been a low turnout for new students and the bills are falling behind. I blame this horrible economy. As for Sakura, she is a total shopoholic. I can't keep up with her spending habits. Oh, here's a picture of us in one of those photobooths in the mall. She had to do 500 Saikyo style push-ups as punishment for her actions.

does anyone here have a good boxer? I'm in much need of some hardcore boxer practice, he seems to beat my sim pretty easily. I have a very difficult time zoning him (and of course as with any character once they get in on sim he has a difficult time widening the gap). he's more difficult to antiair than other characters, probably just because of the large hitbox on his jumping RH and you pretty much have to guess if he is going to throw it out early or late to AA it properly.

Yeah, once I got in close it wasn't that bad (the close up game I can almost deal with), but it was the use of the kick for ranging that was aggravating. Most Abels I've played are more than happy to just roll in and try to mess my shit up. But the fight would start and they would dash back and then wheel kick city, no offense besides that, just hard to get in. Again, I just might suck balls.
