Tri-Ace's next big RPG coming out for the PS3 and 360 and it's being published by Sega this time instead of Squeenix. Being headed up by the man behind Silmeria, and also worked on FFT, and Vagrant Story, so... Tri-Ace's A+ team, as opposed to the mentally deficient hobos they pull in to make Star Ocean.
It's called End of Eternity in Japan, but that name's eaten by copyright, so it's Resonance of Fate for the west.
In the distant future, Earth has undergone a drastic change in the environment. For reasons unknown, poisonous layers of gases permeated the land, which resulted in near extinction for mankind due to our inability to adapt to the new changes. The remaining humans built a gigantic device called Bazel, an environment purifier buried deep in the ground, which cleanses the air in the surrounding land and hopefully the rest of Earth as well. Civilization began to reform around Bazel itself, building a city around the tower. The upper classes live in luxurious apartments at the top of Bazel while the lower classes reside among the many districts built around the base and stem of the tower. For countless years, all is well, until one day the purifier inside Bazel begins to malfunction.
Anyway, Sega uploaded an... interesting video of the combat a little while ago.

Cinematic as hell, but I seriously have no idea what's going on. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing since I loved the shit out of Silmeria, and after I got acquainted with that, the super-complex looking thing became quick and easy to run with. So, anybody else got more info that what wiki has? Or want to share some insight on the gunfighting engine?
Edit: Added older trailer

==========================
Everyone should read this, I guarantee you'll learn a thing or two.
Edit: Most importantly:
Skills and Leveling up
As weapons charge up, higher charge levels can trigger weapon skills. Weapon skills are gained as a weapon levels up, and can add damage multipliers, status effects, or other bonuses. Skills can’t be triggered unless the weapon charge reaches that skill level.
Gaining levels in a weapon is achieved by hitting enemy bodies with an attack, which gains experience. Attacking enemy armor yields no experience. Upon leveling up, the character’s maximum HP goes up, and they gain another charge level in that weapon, and sometimes a skill. A character’s level is the total level of all three weapons. So Zephyr lvl. 40 could be HG 38 + MG 1 + GR 1, or HG 15 + MG 15 + GR 10. This means switching weapons around frequently is important.

Anyway, sounds pretty cool, and the trailer is neato

I'm pretty sure those circles/beeps are charging an attack, and when attacks start, it shifts into the more cinematic animations with legs excessively flailing and whatnot. It also looks like it uses jumps kind of like Silmeria's dashes, only in slow motion and you can do multiple attacks or change targets through them, but when you land, if you're in the enemy's ZoC, you get attacked.
But then I have no real clue how or why characters were running around all at the same time. Maybe some rudimentary "take cover" AI control while the energy bar or ammo or whatever they use regenerates. Not to mention the launch attack and chain combo across characters used near the start.
On the other hand, the combat video looks all kinds of stupid and tedious.

How about 'Destined Destiny'?
Looking forward to this actually.
"The men looked like men. The women didn't look like 16 year old girls with huge breasts...."
I think? Looks interesting.
Instead, they actually buy "clothes" from like, 10 different brands (not real life brands) which you equip and ALL OF THEM have their own graphics and show up on your character, meaning you can actually dress up your characters however you want.
And for all Valkyria Chronicles fans, you can dress up the female character as Alicia.
Unless that was a boss battle, which would be very lame.

Never played the DS one, though.

I'm not hopeful, though...I didn't enjoy Star Ocean 2, Valkyrie Profile 1 or 2, FFT or Vagrant Story.
I have faith in tri-Ace. They have a good track record with me.
I loved the entire Valkyrie Profile series (and loved VP2 to hell and back). SO2 was great. SO3 was perhaps better and has one of the most fun battle systems I've ever played hands down. SO4 was flawed, but still fun. And the PSP remakes are all pretty decent.
And if this game's director is the same as VP2's director, I have even more faith. It means he already knows how to do an awesome action rpg / turn based hybrid. VP2 and Eternal Sonata are the only other two games I know of that have a similar blend of genre hybrid in their battle systems. (Not counting Vagrant Story or Parasite Eve as those aren't team/party based.)
I.... I like. It's nice to finally get JRPGs where characters actually look human (but stylish) and wear real clothes. Once this game and FFversusXIII come out we'll have a solid two JRPGs in history that fit both categories. :P
And Alicia outfits are a fanservice bonus.

And uh...Valkyria Chronicles? I know both female leads are named Alicia but...
Hang on. Sega also publishes the game. Could a Gallian Militia outfit be added too?!
When my fience watched me play Crisis Core, she said Genesis looked like a woman. When I was playing Dissidia - though this is mainly due to me not knowing who any characters are outside of Sephiroth and Cloud - I thought nearly all of the characters were women. Until I heard them speak. JRPG's suck at making manly men.
And when they do make manly men, they are usually old, or burly with guns for limbs and shirtless/nearly shirtless. There appears to be no in between in the scale. Either she-males, or dirty old men, or burly shirtless he-mans.
If it's based on the same general engine as Silmeria (which it really does appear to be), then there'll be one 'boss' monster in each encounter that will imediately end the battle when defeated. Granted, I didn't see any indicator of that, but I also couldn't really find any good indicator of the AP or the like aside from when a character was actively moving either. Not to mention any number of other things.

There's a rather lot going on which I can only sort of half guess at.
Hopefully more info and maybe an impression or two comes out soon. What's the release date on this?
I mean, it could be good. I never rule that out. I just don't happen to like the games tri-Ace makes.

I bought that last week but still haven't played it yet.
Get ready to hate every one you come across in game.
Infinite Undiscovery is the only RPG I've ever played where the little kids characters were the least annoying of everyone you meet...that says something.
That's exactly how it works. There's a squad leader and if you kill him,the others run away. Of course you can fight all of them and get more exp/items/money.
Yesssss.
With glasses too? *swoon*
Gridless turn based combat? With guns instead of swords and magic? Dress up? Sold. Day one purchase.
Now I just need a PS3 so I can play Valkyria Chonicles before this comes out.

I like what I see but my main concern is the extent of movement options. It seems like you can choose to run/walk/jump/stay in place prior to the attack portion of the turn but all in a straight line. I'm hoping that later on you can do more advanced formations and flank with multiple characters at a time at the cost of turns or whatever else.
