Super Teams in CoH:
Entire SG made up of a particular AT such as ill/rads.
Multiple 8 man teams blazing through missions/task forces/anything in their path. Can usually reach max level in a week.
What would be the optimum build to do this in Champions Online? In your opinion.
-Gadgeteering? 5 sets of healing drones, attack toys, and munitions bots.
-Ice? 5 people throwing up Wall of Ice and Ice Burst and Shatter.
-Munitions? 5 Gatlin Guns, Lead Tempests, Two Gun Mojo, Shotgun.
-Power Armor? Mini Guns and Shoulder Launcher.
What say you?
Sorcery. Everyone grab a different aura and sigil and hug each other. 5xSkarn's Bane = death too. Probably the framework that gets the most out of stacking.
Ego Blades -- 5 people to stack up the ego debuffs instantly and just... decimate. Make the mobs cry in fear. Preferably mix with some telepathy if it doesn't bend your rules too much.
If identical bleeds from different people stack, 5xSingle Blades with swallowtail cut and haymaker may be the cheesiest thing ever in PvP ;P Again, may bend your rules depending on whether you mean everyone takes the same powers or takes the same frame. MA have to break frame though since they run out of powers.

Yeah, but theres a cap of 5 advantage points, and most abilities have 2 2point ranks and a 2-3 point advantage, and some have extra 1 point abilities like metabolism and stuff. You can't get 2 ranks and an advantage because of the 5 point cap.
I never use ego weaponry, and barely ever use ego surge unless im breaking out of a hold. Ego Form's ranks only boost the bonus to damage reduction, and yet i'm getting rank 3 of all of those simply because I have extra advantage points to pump into them and I can't raise the abilities I use more often, Ego blade breach, ego blade frenzy, and eye of the storm, because they're full on points.
But wouldn't having a higher limit (or no limit) on the number of points just exacerbate the problem of using only a few of your powers? Why did you take/keep ego weaponry (barring that retcon prices are too at the moment) if you never use it? I'm not very familiar with TK abilities, but aren't there some abilities/advantage combos you can use for there buff/dubuff abilities instead of just ranking up the damage?

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. ~ Terry Pratchett
I needed it to get to level 17 to get Ego Blade Breach. I could pick up something else I wouldn't use, but that wouldn't fix the problem of having extra advantage points that are augmenting powers I don't use. I don't have a problem using a single target attack, an AE attack, and a defensive ability. Thats fine, I can use 3-4 powers and be happy. Its just a bit annoying to not be able to increase the effectiveness beyond what I have now because the attacks I use are capped.
CorriganX on
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
one thing to keep in mind about this game is that it was originally meant to have two builds, each with 7 skills. This is why in beta you only had 7 hotkeys and 14 powers total.
To me this explains why you can own with just two skills through out the game. You're supposed to. And when you need a tank you switch to your tank build. And when you need dps you switch to your dps build.
But then they gave in and let you hotkey all 14 powers with the second set of 7 available on alt + 1-7. And now with access to all powers, no one uses builds, so F5-F8 are a waste.
The extra builds will in fact be useful in the long run, but not until everyone has multiple sets of gear.
My Dex/Ego DPS gear is not going to be as functional as my Con/Ref gear for Regen tanking.

Sorcery is really great for secondary powers. Being able to drop a rune trap is wonderful, especially in Apocalypse when you need to deny people access to clickies.

Could you elaborate on this stuff a bit? I have no idea what sorcery stuff generally speaking does and the tooltips and such are sort of unhelpful. I'm looking to diversify my elec guy a bit and would like to subscribe to your new religion/newsletter/porn magazine.

Sorcery is much like gadgets in that it has a lot of weird little abilities that are not simply "point at dude for damage," meaning that you're actually getting NEW abilities rather than a slight variation of other abilities.
You can summon various pets, of course, but you also have things like the Sigils of Arcane Runes (there is at least one other useful sigil type.. storm or something), which are five little stationary objects which explode when people walk into them. They distract the crap out of mobs, provide a little extra damage WHILE you blast things with your usual powers, and linger for almost as long as the default cooldown, allowing you to drop them in front of things like land mines.

Oh deary me I just gave that a closer look and sigils of the primal storm even does elec damage. That is rather awesome. Going to get that so hard for my elec char. Thanks for the info.
e: circle of ebon wrath looks pretty good too. are the circles worth using?

Circles are kind of movement-restricting. That said I think they might be looking at making them easier to use.
Hmm...I've hit 17 on my main and done all of the level 17 and below MC quests except Fight club...the rest are 18+.
Are there any quests elsewhere or am I gonna run out? Grinding isn't really feasible in this...need...moar...content...repeatable...please...
Same problem at 17. I did all the 18-20 quests in MC, which got me to about 19. Then I went to Snake Gulch/Viper Nest which got me to 21. Now am I 22 and working on the last of the Canada VIPER stuff.
I went back and did early Canada quests that I missed by doing the Desert first instead. It actually works out and the xp you get from those quests isn't terrible.
At level 39 I've actually backtracked a bit so as to get some perk missions in. The Missions do in fact grant XP. And you can probably find someone to sidekick with for actual mob XP.
all i know is that missions give like 10k xp at level 10, and at level 33 or whatever I still get some missions that give 17k. So going to do some missions 1/3rd my level for over 1/2 the xp is worth it.

The only circle that I was really impressed with was the circle of arcane power (the +end one). The rest are kind of bleh. The +dam or +defense circles aren't all that great imo, at least not worth standing still. The sigils are alright. Sigils of Ebon Weakness is a snare/damage debuff that is pretty decent, Sigils of Primal Storm is a DoT lightning attack that will often not fire, Sigils of Arcane Runes are exploding fireball traps, Sigils of Radiant Sanctuary is not functional (supposed to give you stealth and +dodge I think?).
Also I am regretfully retconning out of PFF and into Invulnerability because PFF taking damage when you block = :v:.

The Sigils of the Primal Storm are very weak, unless they recently got a big buff.

What, regen and an energy builder? I don't think that regen is *that* OP. :P

I'm actually finishing one up right now. Ah, such fond memories of the little neon green guy.
I'm stuck on the name, though. Ideas?
I shall name myself for a Polish slang term for venereal disease.
