This one shouldn't be too hard. I have a column say, A that has been filled in green and has a number in it. Column B is left blank. What I want is anytime a number is put in column B that is lower than the number in Coulmn A I want it to fill in that cell with a certain color. If it's higher I want it to autofill another color

Example, A1 is 3000.00 already autofilled blue. Someone types in 2000.00 in B1 it autofills purple. They type in 4000 instead it turns yellow.

Can this be done?

I'm using Excel 2008 on a Mac (in French), so it might not be in the same place, but...

Look under Format -> Conditional Formatting. I'm pretty sure it will do what you want.

Specifically, you're looking to create 2 rules. One is less than, one is greater than, then just pick your colors!

If you need more step-by-step let me know, had a similar issue yesterday.

This seems to work however now when the cells are blank (No text entered) it auto fills the less than color when I just want it to remain white.

You can have multiple conditions. I think you could add one that says if the cell value is blank, format the fill color as white.

Did that but it's like it doesn't apply. All my blanks still autofill with the less than color. I even tried moving the order of the rules in the rule manager, still a no go.

W00t Just got it, If you set up your blank rule then set it first and check stop if true it works fine. Thanks for the help!

You would do another rule to format cells containing nothing or 0 white

If you ever run into an issue where you don't have enough rules left to make the "blank" rule, you can build it into your other rules. Use AND nested inside your IF formula for the rules you have. Of course, this isn't necessary if you've got 2007 or newer.
