Southshore vs Hillsbrad was so awesome on Dragonmaw, it was just an unofficial BG that ran from about 6pm to 2am. It was pretty even as well, constantly shifting between each base.
And now I hear the horde has taken it over for Cataclysm? Seriously whatever side you're on that's kind of lame. No announcement for the opposite in some other zone (maybe that horde base in Ashenvale?).
Horde have trashed the Alliance town in Ashenvale (supposedly, I've seen pics where the town is still there but burning).
In return, Alliance have managed to destroy Camp Taurajo in the Barrens and have set up a small forward base there. This is supposedly the reason for that Tauren built wall that was appearing in the screen shots.

You say that as if the PvP has been lively throughout. It hasn't. The day PvP was given time and places was the day world PvP died and I hated that, probably as much as people who are hating Blizzard for the old content going away for good when Cata comes out.
New additions to the 3.2.2 patch notes are up. My standout favourite:
-The blacksmiths of Orgrimmar grew tired of running to the rear of the city to craft items and have installed a new anvil & forge at the General Store in the Valley of Strength.

Jesus jumped-up Christ it's about time they did this. FUCK.
Unbreakable Armor: Cooldown reduced to 1 minute and changed back to granting 25% additional armor while active instead of flat damage reduction based on armor. The amount of strength granted has been reduced to 10%.
With even decent gear, this shit was basically a 20 second Divine Shield versus most spell damage.
I'm hoping Arthas and Icecrown are interesting encounters. If only to give me a reason to come back and play them. Told my Officers last night that they could demote me from Raid Leader down to Social. I won't be back otherwise. I'm working on my newest fish tank project. It's kinda' nice to know that 4 hours of my night can be devoted to other things for once. Who knew?
Level 24 to 25? You're gonna spend like 10 hours of killing things to do it.
Edit - And the level cap is 200.
It's nowhere near that bad. 24-25 took me about an hour tops. Also at that lvl you should be in hard mode where everything gives triple XP or so or at the very end of normal episode one, which doesn't give you as much XP but it does give you a chance to pick up some nice rare weaons.
Now after 60 or so I could see the time between lvls getting kinda ridiculous, but by then not much in that game is terribly threatening anymore, except maybe hard/very hard episode 4.

Not to keep this tangent going for too long, but I recall multiplayer Ultimate at 80 being ruinous until you had rare weapons from there.

Oh yeah I forgot about ultimate difficulty. Most of my PSO time was on the DC version that didn't have that and it always slips my mind.

They specifically designed Ultimate to make the pre-ep2 weapons do virtually nothing, which was pretty lame imo. On the other hand every player had a spread needle and could run through ruins on VH and clear rooms in seconds of all spawns. Going in Ultimate was hard early on, folks needed a force or two in parties until rare weapons started dropping allowing hunters/rangers to start being at all useful in Ultimate.
And no, it didn't take remotely 10 hours between 24-25. My DC EP1 100 had about 130 hours played when EP2 hit, so break that down however you want. It wasn't that bad really. Particularly if you had a crew you ran with regularly, it flew by.
EDIT: DC had EP2, and you probably shouldn't waste your time in ultimate at 80. You could wait till 120 if you had good pre-ep2 weapons and could clear out VH ruins quickly.
Anyone here in the PA horde guild? Shambler Milk? Know if they are recruiting at all, I recently started playing again after several months away. I'd like to raid a bit from time to time, and enjoy running 5 man instances with non morons, but I don't have the desire to app to some hardcore guild and have requirements put on something I like to do for fun.

Boo come join the Obsidian Spur on Sargeras.
I am fairly certain any of the PA horde guilds ( Obsidian Spur, Shambler Milk, or Beasts of Unusual Size ) would take in a forum member without an application. Of course I have been know to make mistakes, from time to time.
I'm looking to transfer to a PvP server, but I can't decide on one. Burning Legion seems pretty well balanced, as does Emerald Dream (the RP bit doesn't bother me). Anyone have any suggestions? Note that I'm playing ally.
I believe so, that's probably the source of the confusion. So, ya which servers are the aforementioned guilds on? So I can make a lvl 1 toon and maybe talk to someone in charge. All my characters are on Illidan atm.

Stay away from BL Horde. That's my old stomping grounds. It's a very dull and boring place. From what I reckon from the forums, the are no top guilds.
From what I know of Burning Blade's horde side, there's plenty of good guilds to join. I'm on that server now as Alliance.

Uh. What are you planning to do once you transfer? Arena, BGs, ganking, raiding? If raiding, don't transfer to Emerald Dream. I know that at least one Horde arena guild has been getting a lot of transfer lately, apparently our battlegroup is really easy to get gladiator or something? I dunno. We are also very high pop, whether that influences your decision in either direction.

US Obsidian Spur is on Sargeras. Wretchedmist is the guild leader, although most of the regulars have invite abilities.
Playing on Illidan once in a blue moon you'll run across someone who is RP'ing in a pug group. These people are my secret heroes. In a group of people all using 1337 speak and cursing up a storm, these flks would be doing their damndest to run with their fiction. The sheer manic dedication to keep it up on a servr like Illidan must be exhausting.
Of course they may have just been fucking with us.

Raiding would probably be the bulk of things, so thanks for cutting out that option.
So I guess what I'm looking for is somewhere with a decent raiding population with no particularly noticeable faction imbalance. Preferable medium pop, but high is fine. A lot of these things are hard to find out nowadays since the census sites around seem to be horribly out of date.

Hah, well we raid on Sargeras, but I don't know much about the balance though, I usually get my ass handed to me in PvP.
i have 2 heirloom pieces and the herb hot and leveling a rogue still sucks balls.
Yeah, nice having a reduced repair cost because heirlooms don't have durability, though. Do you have shoulder/chest? I found getting an heirloom weapon (in your case, two, probably, I've never leveled a rogue) is nice, too.
Anyone have any experience with the server Deathwing? It looks pretty well balanced, with a good population size for me. Dunno how it fairs in terms of guilds and raiding though.

Doesn't bother any of us on ED either, cause no one does it
(Ok, there are those that do, but by avoiding the realm forums...I rarely hear about any of it at any given point while logged in)

The line between "die-hard RP'er" and "die-hard RP mockery" is truly thin, and when one blends into the other, often hillarious.
