Couldn't find the classic "How many 360s have you gone through" thread so I figured I'd just ask.
I bought a used 360 a couple months ago, surprise surprise it ain't working so well.
Anyhow I just want to clarify what the RROD is. Most of the vids I see online show 3 flashing red lights. Mine doesn't do that, just 3 static red lights.
Is that the RROD?
Symptoms started with some blue tint banding on the screen, then the console started intermittently freezing up. I went to MS's forum and followed the instructions to clear the HD cache (since seemed to work better with HD unplugged). Next time I turned it on there was a really weird click, pop, or chirp... and the 3 red lights.
Hoping I can get it fixed.
Not intending to turn this into a flame war but why is 360 so popular again? (really, don't answer that trouble only trouble will ensue).
Mnemonic anamnesis.

Because they decided to make the tradeoff from exhaustively testing the console to releasing it a year earlier than its competitors, allowing it to build up a solid base of games without needing to worry as much about the competition.
Hey, stop that, please just help me clarify whether or not I've RROD'ed. I

Sorry had to vent. Shit hardware is frustrating, I think anyone would agree with that.

Insert Disc error - adjusted DVD drive.
RROD - towel trick, then reseated the horrible lead-free ball grid array solder with a low heat gun.

Seriously I never mentioned the PS3... all I said is shitty hardware is frustrating. My 360 is shit. Not all are. Let's just leave it there.

I just did this for a friend of mine who was busy and didn't care since he didn't play it much anymore, and it was stupidly simple. A replacement is on its way back to us now.
