Alien Swarm is a total conversion of Unreal Tournament 2004 into a recreation of the
Aliens setting. You control a team of IAF marines on a bug hunt using all the weapons and other goodies that you would expect from such an awesome concept. It is controlled from a top-down perspective, and though it looks like it is a twin-stick shooter it's actually a mouse-driven game. It has both single player and multiplayer play, including co-op and competitive. There are also a bunch of custom mods, such as mutators and .ini hacks, available
here, and user-made maps and campaign packs available
here.

The mod is available
here, but you will also need a copy of Unreal Tournament 2004, which can be purchased from Good Old Games
here for $10 and probably a few other places too.
Holy crap guys this game is awesome let's play it. If you are looking for something cheap that will run on your shitty laptop that you can play like on a lunch break or while the wife watches tv then this will fit the bill perfectly.
(You might notice that this mod is pretty old at this point, and that's true. After all, it's a UT2k4 mod. The development team still supports it, however, and they are also working on a new game using the Source engine called
Alien Swarm: Infested, which I am now anxiously awaiting.)
So, anyone want to kill some bugs?
