Ultimate Comics news:
Sara Pichelli joins the regular creative team of "Ultimate Spider-Man" in the months ahead as a "swing artist" with David LaFuente. Bendis talked up the first ongoing female Spider-Man artist saying of her sample pages "as you can tell already, the characters are much better dressed they were than in previous iterations of the character" and adding that she was amazing with character acting as "as fast as Bagley." In the months ahead, the series will return to its original numbering with #150, marking the 10th Anniversary of the book and the Ultimate line.
Pichelli is a fast artist, great news to read.
Jason Aaron and Ron Garney will team up for "Ultimate Captain America" in January. The mini series will focus on a version of Captain America who was established during Vietnam who comes back from being AWOL to show Steve Rogers what he missed about America in the Vietnam era. Aaron said the secret identity of the character was one that would be familiar to Marvel Universe readers.
Ultimate John Walker? Aaron seems like a guy who would write regular Walker not as a joke like others have, but if they make him a hippie anti-war soldier to really differentiate his Ultimate counterpart I'm gonna be sad. Although making him be Ultimate Rambo, thumbs up.
Ultimate Cap is going to be awesome! Aaron and Garney did very well together on Wolverine: Weapon X so them being back for this grittier, 'Nam Vet Cap seems to be playing to their strengths.
I don't get why they're going back to calling UCSM just "Ultimate Spider-man". I'm pretty sure the price decrease and re-numbering will be enough to get people back on the title.
I don't understand the point of having Nam Cap telling Ultimate Cap about what the US did during Vietnam, as if Cap should have some guilt about it or have that weight on his shoulders. Unless it all comes down to Cap going "So? Who gives a fuck I'm Captain America *shield to the head*"
I gave up on USM around the 50 mark because I found that it was getting repetitive and unexciting, both between the arcs themselves and because the arcs were just versions of stories already published. I tried again around the Clone Saga, but that didn't take either.
Should I try UCSM? The different formula that Bendis seems to be playing off has me interested, but I'm not sure how significant that is.

Around the 80-95 mark there were some actual new stories, like Kitty Pryde being Pete's gf, hanging out with the X-Men, etc.
The Immonen stuff, I would read the last 10 or so issues, since there was one really long and overdone Beetle/Venom story that tied into the videogame that really didn't need to show up in the comic. There was an Omega Red stand alone issue where Peter has a no good terrible very bad day that was probably the best of the Bendis/Immonen run.
The new UCSM, I read the first 6 issues, and it seemed like a brand new start, nothing trying to tie it to the regular universe. That's probably more up your alley. Best Bendis stuff he's written of anything in his current output int he past two-three years.

If the Clone Saga couldn't get you back into USM I doubt the recent stuff will either.
Yeah, UCSM is a really good rebirth for the series, which was arguably getting rather stale towards the end, the writing didn't fall but the plotting kind of did. I think that he might have wanted to use guys like Iceman and Human Torch for a while but never got the chance, mixing it all up with Ultimatum might have been terrible in itself but allowing Bendis freedom with supporting characters was a great outcome of that.
At the end of the third collection book, issue 39, there's a flashback...
In which Peter and Curt Connors are remembering Peter fighting him as the Lizard.
I've read the previous two collection books, but I'm certain that I haven't seen Lizard appear before.
Did this happen in another Ultimate book or something?
UCSM #15 was great, all talking issue but such great dialogue and the art was excellent.
UCA 3 #3 was pretty good but nothing really stood out.
And sadly the last issue of UC Mystery was pretty underwhelming after all the previous issues were so good IMO. Although the last page was pretty damn creepy, and the art continued to shine.
I have a feeling that this won't be a literal death. Recall that in Ultimate Spider-Man, Peter is going to begin training with the Ultimates in the next few issues.
I think that something is going to happen where Peter will have to use his powers and save the day without being able to change into his Spider-Man costume. That he will have to be publicly outed as an unnatural genetic mutation, just as Fury mentioned so long ago.
Once he's outed, he'll have to go public as Peter Parker, hero. Not as Spider-Man. So, at least for a time, Spider-Man will be gone and Peter will be acting as a hero (most likely for SHIELD) without wearing a mask.
I am of the opinion that Ultimate Spidey should keep the hell away from the rest of the universe, but this could be pretty good and Ultimate Spidey has never not been good, so even though Millar is involved (and i dislike his Ultimate stuff) I might give it a go.
I bet New Ultimates won't even finish in time by Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates.
Well the last issue currently isn't on Marvel's solicit page so it probably won't come out till at least February. And I doubt anything major will happen in the last issue anyway.
I'm trying to hope that the Death of Spiderman will just be flashbacks or something to the events of Ultimatum, and then UCSM can continue on it's awesome track, dreading even a re-hash of "Spider-man no more" type re-write, I don't even want to consider them actually whacking Pete, it's been done in both U's in the last 5 years as it is.
It's probably the version of Ultimate Spider-Man that's getting killed.

I'll bet he's not connected to Spider-Man at all, he's just some weirdo mutant who demanded a Spider-Man costume in exchange for telling the future or something.
I just read Ultimatum. It wasn't as bad as alot of you guys make it out to be, but there were some real WTF moments. (Mainly Pym going Ozzy on the blob) What happens in the requium books? Anything important? Where does it reveal how spiderman came back, and have the resolved anything with Dr. Strange? Did Dormamu get dealt with in the Ultimate FF book?

I would recommend Requiem as a companion piece to Ultimatum, it answers most of the questions you asked.
And personally I didn't hate Ultimatum as much as most people seemed to. Yes is was heavily flawed but generally the writing was much better than Ultimates 3 and there was a very nice scene with Wolverine and Kitty near the end.
Anything good now in the Ultimate universe exists in spite of Ultimatum, not because of it.
Kinda ironic one of the better UC titles post-Ultimatum, Ultimate X, is penned by Loeb. Too bad Art Adams is (rightly) too busy taking care of his new baby to get issues out on time.
haha i just read about how the ultimate line was originally going to be called "Ground Zero" back in 2000 when they started it.

The best thing about that CBR USM 10 year recap is the last paragraph from Bendis:
"To this day, I can't tell you how much I love this man and how much I admire him. I've said privately in meetings and publicly on the internet that it's my opinion that people like Mark Bagley should be given reward after reward and award after award because they are exciting draftsmen, insanely professional and are nice to their fans everywhere they go. But instead, because of the nature of humanity, we reward people who are late with their books, we pay attention to people who misbehave and talk shit. I wish the world worked backwards so the person who was kicking ass quietly and with class was lauded for his amazing professionalism day in and day out. I'm sorry if I'm overstating this, but I believe wholeheartedly that's how it should be, and it's not."
I seriously wonder what Finch did to piss off Bendis so much beyond Ultimatum being late. They seemed to get along rather well with their Ultimate X-Men run, which was the reason he got Finch the New Avengers gig.

I think it was the revelation that Ultimatum wasn't just delayed because of Finch's slowness, it was delayed because he was painting a portrait of Strawberry fucking Shortcake at the same time.

I remember that, but even then Frank Cho really dropped the ball with Mighty Avengers because he was doing other stuff on the side, yet Bendis really hasn't gotten on his case like Finch. It's a battle of the bald heads.
"I had a notebook full of things I wanted to do, but I just wasn't there yet in the story. We had been in all these Ultimate meetings. We'd have these pow wows in LA with Allan Heinberg, Damon Lindelof and Jeph Loeb; all these pretty big muckety mucks. Jeph had laid out the bones of what 'Ultimatum' would be and I looked at it as a huge opportunity for me to do some stories like Aunt May getting arrested for harboring Spider-Man only to have the tidal wave wash it all away," Bendis recalled. "In any other medium, that would be incredible writer's bullshit. But because I wasn't the one dropping the tidal wave on the story it was okay," Bendis laughed.
"I can't think of another way you could possibly get away with that incredible bullshit. I was even giggling while I was typing it because I knew it was total horseshit. It was a lot of fun to write, though. I wanted to write, 'Aunt May gets arrested and is sweating it out in the box and being worked over by cops. Cut to tidal wave,'" Bendis continued.
Bendis always seems like a cool guy with a good sense of humour, and books like ultimate Spidey where he just gets to have a bit of fun are his best work for that reason I think.

So USM #150 kind of sheds light on what Death of (Ultimate) Spider-Man will be
Carol Danvers meets with May and Peter and they decide Peter should go to super-hero school.
So that's probably why Peter won't be Spider-Man, he'll be Parker: The Agent.
And the fill-in in the back was the Ultimate Team-Up super special.

Yes, Yes, a thousand times YES.
