So USM #150 kind of sheds light on what Death of (Ultimate) Spider-Man will be
Carol Danvers meets with May and Peter and they decide Peter should go to super-hero school.

So that's probably why Peter won't be Spider-Man, he'll be Parker: The Agent.

And the fill-in in the back was the Ultimate Team-Up super special.

Yeah, that's what I thought would happen

If Ultimate Spider man really does end with this whole "Death of Spider man" thing, where would that leave the UC line? Millar said he's done with Ultimate Avengers after the fourth volume, and Ultimate X is still going on but is suffering from huge delays.

I can't see USM ending as long as Bendis works at Marvel. He'd get someone to ghost write it before he took his name off the book.

USM only has value as long as Bendis is writing it, as his dialogue and particular grasp of the classic characters are the title's main draw. Without him, all you have is another Spider-Man book with its own continuity, and that's enough of a selling point.

Maybe they're going to fake Spider-Man's death and have Peter work covertly, mainly because SHIELD doesn't want Peter to give kids the idea that they can run around playing superhero and whatnot. Also, I've never really liked Ultimate Cap, he's always seemed to be kind of a jerk in my opinion. He actually kind of reminds me of USAgent, which makes me start to like him a little, but then I get mad because he is only a pale reflection of the awesomeness that is Walker.

So, I've been thinking that the spider-man Fury has locked away is from an alternate dimension. He may even been the zombie spider-man somehow. I haven't been keeping a really close eye on the comics so I might be way off, but thats the vibe I"m picking up.

I'm sticking with my theory that he's just some crazy mutant who demanded to be given a Spider-Man costume.

I was lucky enough to get Ultimate Spider-Man Ultimate Collection from my secret santa. I just now finished it and I'm sad. I didn't want it to end. It was so awesome. I'll have to pick up the next few volumes so I can continue the story, because it did leave off on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Do they also have these collections for X-Men, too? You know, 13ish comics in one big book for a pretty decent price? I don't want to have to buy comic after comic after comic. That's the thing that keeps me from getting into them, because the money stacks up.

Honestly, the hardcovers are usually the way to go on those. They're usually the same price but over-sized art makes them the better value.

Absolutely. Collected editions are pretty much the way to go. Apart from the over-sized art, they're cheaper, you won't need to bag and board them, and they fit well on most bookshelves.

You mentioned X-Men, so have you checked out Astonishing X-Men? It looks like the first one is out of stock on Amazon.com, but there are plenty of other dealers listing it as new and just as cheap as Amazon. The second is still in stock.

    Volume 2

Thank you. Would you recommend Astonishing X-Men over Ultimate?

This is what I got, by the way. The cover is the artwork of the second image on that page.

Astonishing X-men would be an overall cheaper investment but I still say you should check out Ultimate if you're a Spider-man fan.

Edit: I just checked Amazon and so far only 3 USM ultimate collections have been released so I definitely recommend picking up the other two. After that you still have about 15 volumes to check out so it's still a very long and pricey investment though.

Astonishing X-Men is WAY better than Ultimate X-Men, but there are still a few good stories told in UXM.

As far as Ultimate Spider-Man is concerned, the "Ultimate Collection" is simply a paperback collection of the hardcover version for the same price. The first three hardcovers have been out of print for awhile, but those are probably some of the best Spider-Man stories told in the last decade or so (and they have similar collections here and here). The book is still good after that point, it's just not AS good in a lot of places. That's my opinion at least.

And of course, if you had gotten into the game a few years earlier, you could have picked up Marvel's very first unofficial omnibus collection. It collected the first 39 issues of Spider-Man. Sadly, it's been out-of-print for some time as well. Although it looks like there are quite a few used copies in decent condition.

    EDIT

Speaking of Marvel's Omnibus line, if you're REALLY interested in checking out Astonishing X-Men, this collects both of the hardcovers in to a single book.

Oh crap you all were talking about Ultimate X-men, not Ultimate Spider-man, sorry.

Like Kyle said Astonishing is a much better investment. However I will say the 4 ultimate collections of UXM are very good stories in their own right. And in the fourth volume which is the entire Brian Michael Bendis run there is a one-shot issue which I seriously consider one of the best comics I've ever read.

Ultimate X-Men is worth a read up to the end of Magnetic North, which was #62 or #63.

The only UXM run I didn't read was the Kirkman stuff and whoever wrote the last few issues. The Millar run was overall very good, the BMB run was also good with the afformentioned fantastic one-shot, and I actually liked the majority of the BKV run.

It's one of the very few comics that caused me to have a genuine, strong emotional reaction to it.

You'd think Millar would learn not to put these kinds of doomed-to-be-dated references in his work, after putting Shannon Elizabeth and Freddie Prinze Jr. in the first Ultimates series.

Cover for Avengers Vs New Ultimates 1

    Things I've Noticed from it:
Appears that Iron Man is completely no longer in his "diffrent" Ultimate Universe Armor, and is instead in a Movie/616 hybrid suit.
Thor has no Mjnoir, perhaps something happens in New Ultimates 5?
Hawkeye looks to be fighting on the new ultimates side and appears to be fighting the new Black Widow/ but on the other hand appears in the middle of the fight so probably will have divided loyalties.

When I saw "Avengers" in the title, I thought it was referring to the actual Avengers.

I'd forgotten that the Avengers even exist in the Ultimate Universe, and I still don't know the difference between that team and the Ultimates.

Millar's Avengers are covert, at least they're supposed to be. Loeb's New Ultimates are the public team.

Mark Bagley is back on Ultimate Spider-Man in 2011! Christmas has apparently come early for me, cause I have been wishing this since he left. Bendis and Bagley will begin their reunion tour in issue #156. I'm having a real hard time keeping a grin off my face.
