Maybe there's something on this already, but I've searched the forum with little luck, so forgive me (and push me in the right direction, please!). I've already scoured the avs forums.
I'd like to pickup a new hdtv, preferably a plasma. Problem: I'm very sensitive to input lag, and, in fact, cannot stand it. The only HD units I've had zero lag with on both sd and hd content are two Panasonic projectors (Panasonic PT-AX200U is awesome), but I posses neither the correct lighting situation nor wall space in my smaller room for such a thing (plus the expense of the unit is greater than I care to pay for now).
I was looking at the Panasonic 42" TC-P42X1 720p Tv (can get a great deal on it). I went to two Best Buy stores with my n64 and smash to test for input lag, and I was pleasantly surprised; very very minor, but still present. I was not able to test out an hd game source. The AVS forums have an owners thread with tons of pages, but only mention input lag once and never in conjunction with sd content from an n64/ps2/super or anything like that.
My point is, I can deal with the very minor lag if there's none when playing at native (360, ps3 and a pc would all be at the max 720p [or 1024x768] over hdmi).
Anyone own this set? Can the input lag be further reduced with some menu tweaking for sd/composite content (I still play my n64 a fair amount).
Is there another set in the same price range (around $700) that someone has had good experience with? Everything I search for online comes up with tons of old posts at various forums that aren't much help.
Thanks.

Do you play anything like street fighter at all (frame dependent stuff).
That is to say, there is nothing about the TV that I can detect that seems wrong. I play shooters mostly.
