The Phalliad: SIGN-UPS CLOSED! Game begins 3/11

edited March 2007 in Critical Failures
I'm sort of testing the waters here to see if I can get enough interest to run a Phalla game of roughly 60 people in here. The details are something like this:

The setting will be ancient Greece, in a fictional city known as Phallia that is about to be overrun by the armies of the Greek empire. Players will assume the roles of the soldiers of the Phallian army who have been intercepted by spies. The narrative will be related as epic poetry in the style of The Iliad.

Game mechanics haven't been finalized, but the rules will be completely transparent. Sort of. That is, all players will know exactly what the rules are at any given time, but game mechanics may shift during the game. Such shifts will be made apparent to the players.

If you'd be interest, post in here to that effect. If I can get 60 people, or close to it, the game will begin in roughly 2 weeks.

Yeah, and I sort of feel like a thief, but the Greek setting fits perfectly with some of the game mechanics I want to try.

Ooohh new game mechanics?!? I like those, me and Cass only did a bit of experimenting, nothing too crazy in a small phalla game.

Just earlier tonight I thought up the rules I want to use in my own Phalla game. But it'll be good to actually participate in a game before running my own.

Quick question (about Phallas in general): So do phallas run both simultaneously in D&D and this forum? And why do they take place in two separate forums in the first place?

I think the one in D&D is kinda like an ingroup game, like D&Ders like playing phalla a lot. G&T also used to have one. There isn't any real reason it is in D&D, but people like to say we are debating in the thread, debating who to kill. :P

Yeah, it started in D&D, and it's a lot of fun when you know everyone, because you really get to pick apart their style and strategy. There's a cap on how often we have them in D&D, though, because when they were happening all the time, the rest of the forum pretty much died because everybody was playing or spectating. Right now if you want to run a Phalla game in D&D, there's a waiting list of about a year. :)

He might have been talking about Castle Phalla, where he got dogpiled by every special in the whole damn game. Also not strictly his fault, as it was actually his plan to get attacked, it just backfired. Horribly.

I'm interested. I can't understand why people think it was Eaglelaser's fault he got killed. It was a actually a pretty good plan, just unclear game mechanics.

I also agree that we should vote for Aroduc.

I'm pretty sure in D&D in the mega ones we reached somewhere in the 50's, so if we move it here we should/might reach 60.

If I don't get 60, I might be able to make it work, but I'll need a pretty hefty group. I'm pretty sure I could get 60 in D&D, so the worst case scenario is I wait and hold it there.

Is it considered sitewhoring if you mention the game in D&D? To drum up some interest, I mean.

Maybe in the Castle Phalla wrap-up phase or something.

I think you're allowed to do such things in your sig. If ElJeffe wore a link in his sig for a week or so he'd get most of the D&D people to at least look into here.

He may have to jail himself for orchestrating a forum raid though.
