Yeah, I kind of stumbled on that, too...it's interesting to see him make a choice and go, "that doesn't really work," and then see him agree by erasing it.

Couldn't tell you a generic answer, but I'd guess it varies wildly from school to school and program to program. Also, it depends on just how liberal they decide to be on what constitutes a 'job'. Sold a $50 painting hanging on the wall of the Starbucks you work at? ART JERB DAWG.

In any case, I'd suspect most heads of art school programs would shift uncomfortably in their seat and try to dance around giving a straight answer if you asked them straight out like that, which should tell you something.

You always always want to have a backup plan especially when going into creative arts of any kind.

Eh. It's not really a function of degree anyway. You've got to be incredibly self-motivated to get an art job. Look at beav, she does more work than anyone I know. Ditto for DMAC, and anyone else who's actually in art. They don't post much, because they're working.

Yeah, I know plenty of people who were talented artists but sucked at doing art on a deadline for employers/clients. There's a big difference between commercial artists/graphic artists/designers and fine artists who sell their work.

If I could point to one thing that's gotten me writing/art/coding jobs, it's demonstrating the ability to work on a deadline and finishing in time, no matter what. I've gone two days without sleep to do things properly and on time. If you don't, the quality of your work suffers and so does your reputation.

Sort of. He still tries to play with your hands...well other people's hands. He doesn't do it to me.
but his teeth aren't sharp anymore so at least he isn't putting holes in you. Its more all of the slobber that is a problem.

As for the art job discussion, I want to point out that Watts Atelier doesn't even remotely guarantee that you will get a job.
