I think that's a very viable theory--I just hope it's not true because for me, it'd feel more poignant if he is an alternate universe son? also the memories of childhood seem remarkably different. and Nina Sharp refers to her knowledge of child Peter--I think an even bigger immediate question is, "Who knows that Peter died at age 7? Did his mother know? Did Nina Sharp know?" I think that could be very revealing.
That is NOT a viable theory. It should have been a joke.
Also, for those of you whose heads are spinning at the concepts, I suggest you watch these two videos, they help explain some of the concepts.
And I just watched that video. It has that one crucial misleading comment about observation. Ahhhh. I want to lobby scientists to stop using that word because it misleads people. The diagram of the man's eyes "collapsing"? and the voice-over saying, "we are collapsing possibility"? That implies that human minds cause this, which simply is not something that quantum scientists claim.
Bear with me when I suggest that the universe has, by the leading scientific theories, existed far longer than humanity and any other conscious mind that scientists believe have existed. With that in mind, how can human observation be the cause of collapse? There must have been tons of situations that would go unresolved for all of eternity, with no emergence of humanity!, if they were dependant on human thought/willpower.
edit: Sorry. It seemed relevant because this leads back to the show, but in all honesty, it's probably not relevant at all.
Honestly, that theory seems ridiculous to me, too, but I do see the reasons why he suggests it. I hope it isn't the way it goes, but we'll see. I prefer the more obvious theory, and hope that is the true one..

Oh, I'm not saying it WAS a joke, wasn't my post, but the way it was worded sounded like the poster was doing an old "Dumbledore is Ron Weasley"
Just watched the finale. Fucking awesome. So happy there is gonna be a season two.
When I saw the Twin Towers I had to speculate what the families of the victims might feel if they saw that. "Oh, they're might be an alternate reality where our loved ones are still alive." I guess that could apply to any tragic situation, but like someone else said it was ballsy.
My early money was on Peter being a clone of Walter. The reality makes things more interesting, though.
Remember during one of Olivia's visions there was "HE IS HERE" spray painted on one of the buildings. We still have a President and not a Galactic Emperor, so it would seem that things are relatively calm.
Was He just Jesus again? Maybe he's black this time around.
His whole role in the show is to be a dick to Walter and to explain everything Walter says in layman's terms even though most of it is completely understandable in the first place.
It's like that episode of Futurama where they make fun of Star Trek for talking in technical terms and then explaining everything with a nice simple analogy.
I didn't realize the chick from Saved by the Bell: The College Years was Charlie's wife in real life. (she played his wife in that one episode where he had Rhinocersnake babies.

Or rather, only one other one they can/have interacted with.

Not about parallel universes
yes, but those two theories are very heavily woven together
I personally would rather it not be true.
With that being said, I don't think we know enough yet to come to a solid answer.

because it's utterly ridiculous

The shot and the end made me think he is trying to make Earth-2 into some sort of technological utopia.
I'd think he'd be a little pissy.
