Here's the naming scheme I use in MusicBrainz, for both single and various artists
Single
$if2(%albumartist%,%artist%) - $left(%date%,4) - %album%/$num(%tracknumber%,2) - $if2(%albumartist%,%artist%) - %title%
That's what that string does, created a folder with the Artist - Year - Album Title and in it organizes and renames the songs by Track Number - Artist - Song Title and downloads the album art to the same folder, provided you have the plugin.
like really how long do you have to stay away from your computer in order for 16 GB of music to become boring?
Iskander what you are forgetting is that there are people in the world who, while out and about have a hankering for a song they haven't heard in years and it's not on their iPod it will ruin their day completely.

it's fine if you don't get bored with whatever amount of space you have
some of us just want it all on one device at one time
it's really not even worth debating
I lost 13 of my 26 gigs when my computer went blooey
Pissed me off something fierce because it meant I had to get it all again
Also half of my iPod is videos. I like carrying a handful of movies and all of X-Files with me.
I have a hard drive from mom's old laptop, I need to order the cable today so I can plug it into the USB port
I mean when you've got 20,000+ songs it may take a while to get through everything
does anyone know of a decent program that automatically tags files? I really don't want to have to do everything by hand like I did before
Because if I scrolled through my entire ipod by song I'd be there for days (except for the handy "jump to a letter" feature)
But I usually just go artist - album - song I want to hear
MusicBrainz Picard
MediaMonkey
Mp3Tag
DOOP DOOP DOOP
I'll swear by MusicBrainz, especially with the plugin that pulls down album art from Amazon.
I'm superanal about how music is tagged/album art
also can someone help me find a USB/IDE adapter
The only ones I can find have like eight extra cords and I just need a little thingy to do this
edit never mind found one

Single
$if2(%albumartist%,%artist%) - $left(%date%,4) - %album%/$num(%tracknumber%,2) - $if2(%albumartist%,%artist%) - %title%
Multiple
$if2(%albumartist%,%artist%)/%album%/$num(%tracknumber%,2) %artist% - %title%
It's nice because after adding the option to move the mp3s from whatever folder they're in it will create a folder and name scheme like this
X:\MyMusic\The Crystal Method - 2009 - Divided By Night\03 - The Crystal Method - Drown in the Now (feat. Matisyahu).mp3
with a bit of album art auto-named folder.jpg
let iTunes sort my music
it seems to work pretty well
Artist, album, album artist, year, artwork
I'm just anal about all that being correct
That's what that string does, created a folder with the Artist - Year - Album Title and in it organizes and renames the songs by Track Number - Artist - Song Title and downloads the album art to the same folder, provided you have the plugin.
I mean those are the things I need to have filled out or I get nutty
My folders are Artist -> Album -> Song
Year is just used in iTunes proper, my library is organized alphabetically by artist and then each artist's albums are organized by year
Iskander what you are forgetting is that there are people in the world who, while out and about have a hankering for a song they haven't heard in years and it's not on their iPod it will ruin their day completely.
Satans..... hints.....
Or uses the space on an iPod for anything but music especially now that two models support video
It's a rut, but a happy rut.
Steam - Talon Valdez :Blizz - Talonious#1860 : Xbox Live & LoL - Talonious Monk @TaloniousMonk Hail Satan
the ZuneHD supports HD out playback up to 720p.
720p videos take up a good deal of space.
ZUNEHD IS OUT
AS IS THE ZUNE 4.0 SOFTWARE
FUCK APPLE
But yesssssssss Zunes!
i want a zune hd
i swear to fucking god, geo-restrictions are the dumbest part of this whole globalization business...
god dammit
I kinda wish I'd looked into this before organising 200gigs of music myself
first thing we'll do, let's kill all the lawyers
