I suggest downloading Dr. Mario and/or Pictobits from the DSi store. Don't download WarioWare, it is extremely short and not worth it.

Oh man, so much to buy. Hmm...

    New Super Mario Bros.
    Animal Crossing
    Retro Game Challenge
    Metal Slug 7
    Chrono Trigger
    Rhythm Heaven
    Dragon Quest 4 and 5
    Final Fantasy 3 and 4
    Hotel Dusk
    Professor Layton
    Crystal Chronicles (either one)
    Zelda Phantom Hourglass

And lots, lots more...that's a very random collection of things lying around my room at the moment.

If you like turn-based strategy then Advance Wars: Dual Strike will guaranteed be worth your time.

The World Ends With You is the best game on the DS.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Track it down.

After you've finished it, play Ace Attorney 2 through 4.

Also, The World Ends With You, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, Professor Layton, Hotel Dusk, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Trauma Center, Final Fantasy III and/or IV, New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon Platinum, Retro Game Challenge, Mario Kart, Meteos, Custom Robo, Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, Elite Beat Agents, Wario Ware Touched, Chrono Trigger, Kirby Canvas Curse, Kirby Superstar, Dragonball Origins, Dragon Quest Rocket Slime, Dragon Quest Joker, Harvest Moon Rune Factory 2.

    Ace Attorney 1-4. :D

Have you considered Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon?

I should tell you it's a remake of an NES game, so don't expect too much out of the story, but it scratch the turn-based SJRPG itch.

Castlevania... any of them. Ace Attorneys are good, but don't try to play them back to back, because you will get burnt out.

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Since you seem to like strategy games...

    Disgaea DS
    Fire Emblem
    Advance Wars Dual Strike
Final Fantasy Tactics: Grimoire of the Rift (even though item based skill learning is stupid as all hell)

Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros, and Tetris DS are pretty much staples.

Jagged Alliance DS just came out, if you like old DOS-ported turn-based mercenary strategy role-playing games. It's kind of an interface nightmare but it's worth it after you get used to the quirky control system.

I gotta warn you. I was big fan of FFT, (beat it like 3 times) but couldn't get into FFTA. The whole judge, different race stuff pissed me off. FFTA2 is supposed to have improved things. Did you play Jeanne D' Arc before you lost your psp? That was a pretty good FFT type game.

I played FFTA for the SP or whatever and i didn't like it as much as FFt because i felt it was dumbed down, but i did enjoy it.

i never got to play Jeanne D'Arc

I'm biased but yes, this is a fun game. I gave my copy to a kid that I know because he had just gotten a DS and was a DBZ fan and as he played it I wanted to take it back.
