Final Fantasy V Job Fiesta! Open for applications

elkataselkatas Registered User regular
edited August 2009 in Games and Technology
Final Fantasy Five Job Fiesta

Originally invented by NeoGaf's RevenantKioku (peins, peins, peins), Final Fantasy Five Job Fiesta puts new and challenging twist on the old classic. The idea is that volunteers are given randomized group of jobs, one from each crystal, and they must finish the game only using these classes. To make things even harder, party must always have at least one character from every available class. If someone gets thief, he also automatically gets white mage, to compensate thief's unnatural suckiness. But he also loses class from the Earth crystal.

Rules

- The jobs are randomized by elkatas, who posts packages on this same very thread.
- Any version of FFV is allowed. There is no real difference between the versions outside the graphics.
- Applications are taken until 4th of June.
- You can't use freelancer.
- You can't use mime.
- You can use same class multiple times, but only until your get your fourth job.
- You can switch jobs between the characters.
- You are allowed to master classes and use sub-skills
- If you are insane enough, yes, you can pick Final Fantasy V GBA's new jobs, but you need to use freelancer until you get them.

Umm, there are actually a ton of bug fixes in the transition between FFV (SFC, item duping, chemist even more broken then usual, knifes daggers losing power as you level) FFV (PSX, which adds some bugs and is a really shitty version) and FFVa (tons and tons of bugfixes, chemist not quite but still pretty broken.)

Berserkers are pain the ass reallly, but at least rest of the team can whack them dead if they get too aggressive.

Yes, yes, cannoneer, gladiator, oracle, necromancer.

You'd just have to go bare until the Cleft of Dimension and somehow beat the additional dungeon with the first three in some combination to get the fourth in this challenge.

Bare games are annoying. Lots and lots of rod breaking.

Do we have a timetable for when certain milestones need to be met or when the game needs to be beaten? I've got the PSX version, but I'll be on travel for work next week so I won't get any playtime in then.

Ouch... I'm not sure that if this is good choice then. I mean, while game is enjoyable, it is very, very hard if you limit yourself to the four jobs. Especially if you haven't finished game even for first time.

You know, the rule's supposed to be that if you get White Mage, you get Thief too. Because can you honestly think of any way to do damage with White Mages.

I don't think I really have much damage to deal at all. I've never used Geomancer in FFV, I don't think.

Disappointed I didn't get my absolute favorite job ever... Red Mage.

Out of all the starting jobs, White mages do the least damage to begin with and thieves do the second least.

Thieves can steal though, which is incredible if you know what you are looking for.

Holy is ridiculously late in this game.

FFV Anthologies is a notoriously buggy game, known to crash and delete saves at a whim, with various audio bugs and a horribly thrown together translation based off of a 6 year old rough draft.

Dancer probably has a better damage profile than Thief and could give your entire party Eq. Ribbon, which could save the crap out of many a fight.

No, as the script already took it in consideration. Your last job is Geomancer, which is got from Fire Crystal.

EDIT: What the hell I'm talking... You can get new package or use current if you want.

Yeah, I suppose if the rule is you get white mage then you get thief, you'd better re-randomize it if I got thief instead and was given white mage

    I've been doing this.

    My part is Black Mage/Red Mage/Beast Master/Dancer

One weird part is that two of my classes are more used for an ability they grant then the actual class. Should be interesting.

Plus, only one sword user and RM can't equip the absolute best swords. (The best it can equip is Enhancer)
