wck, i like your quick, traditional work. it has a charm to it. Then again, I don't like stuff with precise or accurate point-based perspective, really.

Now there's an unintentional backhanded compliment if I've ever heard one.

    Yeah....
I could see how it'd be taken that way.

I just think sitting down with a ruler or guides and measuring out mechanical perspective weakens a piece. WCK seems to do both, quick doodles to get the gist of an image down and meticulously measured perspective pieces.

the perspective-pieces are great exercise, but I'd say the final products in the quicker pieces are stronger.

Some random crap from just now. Just quick doodles. I wasn't really going at this with any kind of idea in mind. But the Yellow/Blue dude started to look like Hitler in a top hat so I put some skulls around him, it seemed fitting.

    10 minute speedpaint of Adelaide.

WCK got me in the mood to draw adelaide and i want to compile allot of its landmarks into the same picture. Looks kinda shitty at the moment. I might try for a different composition

I like it so far, it's loose and quick and that's good. The only thing that's not really working are the colors. Really look to see what colors you're seeing, and how those colors interact with light, shadow, and the colors around it.

Right now I see the process of "hills... hills are green, let's color them green, etc."

Man, we have some really crap landmarks. A swan, a hotel, a crap tram, a lake that we prentend is a river (River HA!), and a convention centre for rich people to talk about how rich and successful they are.

Some quick images i did last night as part of a series of illustrations for a story book assignment at uni. This is the design layout stage, working out the desgin of our books (8 page speads plus cover and back) and coming up with rough compositions for the illustrations.

something I sketched lastnight. 20 minutes into it. I will try to finish it thisarvo. I cant get the dino's body right though perspective wise. Any help would be appreciated. I plan on having someone running through the water to get away from the dino. Maybe a another dino or a person.

I think my work has improved just a little. Though, they look shit, they do convey a sense of mood in them.

I actually don't dig either of the blue ones, there's a difference between not trying for accurate perspective, and trying, but not quite getting it right. These seem more like the latter where the earlier piece I was talking about was more like the former.

I do however really dig the last one- the lobby-ish area. I think it'd be better with a hand-drawn texture on the ground plane.

The head and neck are the same size as the rest of the body. You really need to think in terms of believability. Were this a real animal, it wouldn't have the weight and strength in his rear to counter balance the weight of that massive head and would invariably fall over. Always keep the dynamics of gravity in the back of your head.
