So, Jack of Fables #35, the penultimate issue, cleans house pretty well:
Streets of Gotham was a good read, Dini is setting it up to be the book to catch all the runoff from the others. I didn't read the Manhunter backup yet but skimming through it it seemed to be a setup for new readers (which I would be since I never read her series).
Action Comics Annual #1 was very good, a origin story for Chris and Thara, and just one big story with good art from Pere Perez.
And Captain Britian #14 was good as well, with a good twist
Sam tries to steal Thorns pen, but is shocked because he pretty much gathered all of Thorn's stories in his mind at once (Thorn has written all of the atrocities throughout history).
Babe gets two pages to do "her thing" but doesn't know what to do (I would have scanned them but the ending to the book was much more "whoa"
And Bigby sneaks up on the Genres and does.....this:

So Firefly has learned how to make people combust into flames by placing small devices on people he bumps into in Gotham. Also worth noting is that Damien plays chess with Thomas Elliott in his prison cell/floor just to understand him. Dini has a good handle of Damien so far.

I like seeing Bagley draw Spidey as much as the next guy, but I was expecting more you know? The previews made it seem like it was going to be a bunch of flashbacks, instead we only get one.
When did his Ultimate armor look like the current gen 616 armor
It was also weird how they were obviously covering up scars on Viper's face with her hair (like that Captain Planet chick) to have a reveal with a punch or something,yet never showed it, as if Bendis and Bagley made 2/3 an issue and then were told it wasn't going to be used so they just stopped.
But, it really did seem like an unfinished issue that had just been sitting around. It has me really curious about the next issue, though.
Destroyer is pretty much just gore porn at this point; there doesn't seem to really be anything else going on. The first issue was awesome, but I honestly don't care anymore and if it were and ongoing, I'd drop it as it stands.
Streets of Gotham was kind of cool, but I don't have the money for more than two bat-books after this month, and I don't really like gritty street-level batbooks, although I may grab issue 2 just to see what happens with Firefly. The backups are great, and I really do like them quite a bit. I don't care much about Manhunter, but I still found it pretty interesting.
Moment of the Weak: I wouldn't have gotten the Action Comics annual if I hadn't started a pull list last week. So, I lucked out there. Or did I? I really don't feel it was worth $5. It was all background to catch up readers like me who skipped over most of the lead-up, and it also retconned a few things in hopes of having them make more sense. Still, I just didn't really care for it. I knew almost all of the contents from wiki alone, and it seemed like a colossal waste of $5. I really hope that the other Superbook Annuals don't follow this format, but it sounds like they will be.

I think I have to stretch my MOTW from yesterday and continue it to this week -- Alan's War is just too awesome. And I'm still reading it, so technically I think it can be my MOTW again.
If it weren't Alan's War, I think it would be the first panel of Wolverine's origin in Uncanny X-Men First Class Giant Size #1.
I'd trade every book I read this week for that one.
Issue of the Week was probably Streets of Gotham. I love Dustin Nguyen's art.
This issue felt like filler to me, in all honesty.
His design anyway, his speech was terrible.
Yeah, I kind of felt the same way. I mean, for several issues I've sort of been swaying between "this is an awesome series" and "I really don't like this series but can't put my finger on why"; this week's issue just felt decompressed, with nothing happening. Also, Larocca shouldn't be allowed to draw people (unless they're encased in heavy armor).
Also, how long does it take to destroy your brain? The Crimson Dynamo had a fantastic point, and if Tony genuinely wants to erase his memories and whatever else, there are faster and simpler ways than flying all over the world, trying to remain under the radar, looking for hidden, abandoned laboratories in the hopes that they have enough juice to run some more brain-deletion cycles.
There wasn't much gore in Ant-Man, but in general he does seem to enjoy pushing the envelope on violence.

And last issue was just a set up for this issue.
The first issue, so far, is the only one that has embodied what I thought this series would be.
The story felt rushed, and I'm getting tired of Brubaker apologizing all the time for his late indy books. Here's an idea: why not actually finish the majority of a story arc before you start publishing it? I gave up buying 'monthly' Warren Ellis books because of their contrarian approach to regular publishing schedules. I may have to start doing the same with Bru.
I don't even think its a question of Kirkman loves gore anymore, he just really bloody loves that syrupy red colour, which is why he keeps thinking up plot mandated reasons for characters to be covered in it head to toe.
Let's be honest, he had Pym say "Bitch, it's on."

It's basically Bruce's suit, except with the glove scallops attached to bracers instead of the gloves themselves, and a big, metal belt that looks really impractical.

I'm not sure if it's better or worse that it was acknowledged in-page that this whole spectacle is just ridiculous, irrational, and needlessly risky. If nobody had mentioned it, it would have been an elephant in the room. Now that Dmitri did, Stark's pretty much just an idiot for ignoring him. Responding dismissively like he did, though, just didn't make any sense.
Edit: It should also be noted that Marvel Adventures will be doing its own version of the Armor Wars story at the exact same time, featuring covers by Skottie Young.

I almost feel like at this point, Tony's had enough brain cells killed that he can't see the simple, common-sense solutions, and can only imagine the sort of outlandish nonsense that he does best.
And, I actually really didn't understand what his response to Dmitri's comment was supposed to mean. He said something like "Not that bad yet", if I remember correctly. So, what the hell does that mean? That he's not that desperate to have his brain destroyed yet? But...fucker, you set an irreversible, excruciating deletion process in motion. You pushed a button to erase your brain. How is it "not that bad yet"? Is that supposed to indicate that Tony subconsciously hopes that the process will be halted for one reason or another?
Of coruse the whole concept is stupid when people have had their minds wiped much easier.
