If you can't find the time to get an actor who is good for the part and actually looks like the character, it doesn't exactly bode well for the film.

    Also it's because I'm a huge racist.

I think they said that at the time the only white guys they could come up with who looked remotely like the Kingpin were random pro-wrestlers. All things considered, I'm OK with him being black and Michael Clarke Duncan.

It's not like the Kingpin was just a dude with a certain color hair; he was a sophisticated, bald, illegitimate businessman who happened to be toting around like 500 pounds. There isn't a huge pool of actors who can just jump into that. (Although after Tropic Thunder, maybe they can have Tom Cruise be Kingpin when they reboot Daredevil).

I'd actually watch Daredevil or Electra over the Fantastic Four movies.
The other two good ones are Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin and CJ in San Andreas for watching nerds splutter about trying not to sound racist when their view essentially boils down to "fuck black people!"

I don't see how one is comparable to the other. CJ wasn't an established character of a popular intellectual property. The Kingpin was. Yeah, I hate it when they needlessly change the ethnicity for characters of established IPs. I don't see how it is any different from hating that they completely changed a character's costume or hairstyle.

you can't have a white guy as huge and imposing as michael clarke duncan is

he is absolutely perfect for the role of kingpin and if they reboot daredevil I want him to be cast in the role again

Hey, I didn't think Michael Clarke Duncan did a bad job or anything. I just don't buy the idea that there are no large white men in Hollywood. I'm wondering how you people would have reacted to a black Sulu or a native American Captain America.

That last example would actually be kind of cool.

    Marvel 1602 style - woo!

I'm sure there are large white guys in Hollywood. I think there are significantly less of them with acting chops like Michael Clarke Duncan.

But Sulu's race has an actual function in the setting. The Kingpin's doesn't. There has literally never been a prominent plotline in the marvel universe in which the Kingpin's race played a prominent part. It's an irrelevance. It's interesting that no one gave a shit that the Spartans in 300 were manifestly not of mediteranean origin but there is a collective monocle pop over a black guy being so uppity as to think he can play the Kingpin. Which he did very well.

To be fair here, 300 had basically nothing to do with real-world Sparta. I mean, "those dudes ain't Greek" gets trumped by them fighting armies of ninjas and troll-men and dwarves riding on freakmonsters and whatever else. Like zero percent of that story was accurate except the highest-level plot summary.
