What the hell? I defeated Ramuh but he's not in my summon list. So I reloaded an old save and did it again, and he's still not there. This is the GBA version. Is this a bug? Has anyone else run into this?

You get a spell item that you need to use in order to learn.

    How..... random.

I wonder why they did it that way. Is it because they couldn't figure out how to attack that sort of script to a random encounter?

...because you purchase/find all the other non blue magic spells in this game, aside from Holy, Meteor, Flare and a scant few?

Also so you can sell them for the lulz?

Yea I'm throwing my hat in too, I'll be playing the GBA version off of the sexiest invention, GBPlayer for the Cube.

Any excuse to play it again sans a ridiculous challenge like nothing but Travelers, seriously fuck that.

The worst all of one class challenges is probably White Mage. Bare isn't even top five, what with rod breaking, ribbons, and most of the other great equips.

White Mage and Berserker is still boring.

Adding a Beastmaster with a useless Capture ability (1/8th the enemies HP when 2 of my guys auto attack?) doesn't help things at all.

At least the Beastmaster has White Magic to use.

You coast until Guarla, then you coast again until the boss of Ronka Ruins, then you coast again until the endgame. Being able to blast with powerful, boosted elemental damage is insane. The elemental magic is absurdly powerful.

Also, a surprising number of seemingly hard bosses are vulnerable to Sleep.

On the flipside, a team full of thieves is challenging as hell. It's really required me to plan ahead for a lot of bosses.

In the water tower for example I had to steal mythril daggers so I could keep up my damage and throw all my guys into the back row, or else the bosses counterattacks completely destroyed me. Even then it was down to one guy after I killed him.

Having a summoner should make it a bit easier...if I had any summons. D:

Yeah. Garula was impressively annoying and the only reason I managed to survive was because of the Elf Cape saving Faris from a majority of attacks. Still ended with Galuf and Lenna down, though.

But it's well worth it. Now I have access to Haste, Slow, Regen, and someone that can equip the Heal Staff.

I never realized just how powerful breaking rods is. Holy crap.

They've been pretty much my only saving grace for the past couple of bosses. My summoners can't quite heal that well yet and bosses wreck my shit, but a few rods helps boost my survival immensely.

Also, ranged weapons are great too. They let me keep my thief in the back row, increasing survivability two fold as well.

I made my own random number generator and go white mage, black mage, blue mage, dancer. I'm going to force someone to stay with the job the entire time to see if I can beat it. I'll probably pick two blue mages until dancer is available.

Breaking a Rod casts a -ga level AOE spell on the enemy group, which as you can imagine is insanely useful since you don't get the -ga level spells until World 3.

There's also a Light Staff, which is a steal from Metamorph, a monster that appears in Ghido's Cave and the Void, that when broken casts Holy. The Wonder Rod will cast Reset also, which can be handy.
