    how can lenses cost $500

    what the fuck

seriously, because my prescription is ridiculous they cost about that

the ultra-thin lenses are $$$$ but my nose would dent under the weight of my glasses if I didn't get them
it's like $150 everywhere if you want to get lenses with every kind of the latest anti glare and whatnot treatment known to man

    most lenses are about $70

where the heck is $500 coming from

yes, if your prescription is not too bad, around 1.00-4.00 they are absolutely that cheap

mine is 9.50 in both eyes, so it's a different material that had to be special ordered last time

that whole lenses in about an hour thing? try about two weeks

e: Hunter has it about right

hunter do you stare at computer screens all day? if so, have you found contacts that don't dry your eyes out while doing so? it's the main reason I went back to glasses but i want to wear my red sunglasses again

I use the once a day lenses because I work with heat, dessicating chemicals, and dust. Pop them in after I shower in the morning, take them out before bed, new pair the next day.
    expensive, then?

Not really, especially when you consider not having to do the protein treatments or soaking them. Also if you lose one or rip it it's not the end of the world. Also, for comfort it's worth like an extra 200 bucks a year for me.

I had to switch to the newer Acuvue ones but they seem to work fine, my eyes only dry out if I spend more than 10 hours a day in front of the computer

I've read a few articles that have more or less come to the conclusion that shoes as they're designed are actually pretty bad for your feet and posture. Barefoot, or as close to it as you can get, are better for you.

Oh well. I've had these for a little over 5 years now and it's likely becoming time to get a new pair (and hopefully not a new prescription).

    Good looking frames, Doug.

Thanks! The Transitions thing is neat, but it takes some getting used to. Also, the whole "frames" thing will take a bit of getting used to as well.

After about 3 hours of deliberations I finally settled on these when my previous frames broke across the bridge:

They're stainless steel instead of plastic but still quite light.

    what the fuck

well, my perscription is really strong-- -6.75 in one eye, -6.5 in the other. That makes for really, really thick lenses unless I buy the fancy schmancy "ultra thin lenses". Since I wear my glasses all of the time, I figured transitions and scratch guard were a good idea too.

    these lenses are plastic?

i actually have plastic lenses now, and i think when I get my moscot frames, i'll get glass. i actually like the extra heft (but i only have -2 in both eyes), and it just feels more.....expensive.

i have a big ol jew honker so the glasses staying on is not a problem
