A couple days ago I noticed that if I touched the tape converter I used in my car to get my ipod to play through it the sound would cut out a little bit. I thought nothing of it since the tape is real shitty so I buy a radio Converter. Same thing happens, so its down to my ipod. Its a I believe second Generation Ipod Touch. Now this is where things start to suck worse, it is just out of warranty, it is 2 months past the end of the warranty. The same exact thing happened with my old Ipod classic.

So My question H/A is there anyway for me to fix this without spending much money. Because between this happening twice, and itunes deleting my music I am about ready to just buy a zune.

It's common for all types of audio equipment to break down this way eventually. You got really unlucky, though, in that it happened to the player instead of your headphones, and that it happened so soon but yet not inside the warranty. I don't use iPods but I suspect there isn't really anything you can do short of taking to a repair shop, and even they will probably tell you that they can't do an in-house repair and you could buy a new iPod for less than the price that it would cost to fix it.

I would recommend buying replacement warranties from now on.

Kinda what I figured, I am going to write apple a letter about the problems I have had and than proceed to buy a zune with an extended warranty.

Anyone have an appropriate email that I should send this to? I don't want to send it to tech support as I am not looking to have my Ipod Repaired, Just want someone higher up to maybe receive it.

Or call Apple and ask to speak with Customer Relations or a Product Specialist about a possible exception, which I can't guarantee but worth a shot.

second generation ipod touch's came out last fall, so it should be under warranty still

also radio convertors are really touchy, like if you are within range of a radio station it will interfere with the signal

Even moreso with Ipods, in my experience. I stopped buying them after failure #2, and I feel for my friends who keep buying new ones when theirs craps out.

"It's okay that this broke after a year, there's a new ipod out anyway!"

"But... but.... that's why they... nevermind."

I would believe it's this much quicker then I'd believe it's your iPod.

Mine is not all that touchy it uses a channel that no radio station around here uses. It also did this with the tape converter I was using and I tested it with headphones as well. same result.

So you bought it over 15 months ago without the apple care and now expect the higher ups to care? Have you already taken it to the Apple store before going as high as you can? I've had to deal with Apple a few times and each time it's had to be escalated to someone outside of the store they needed to check with the Apple store on what could\was done and what the problem might be or was.

Going straight to them is most likely not going to do a bunch of good. You're welcome to try and I wish you luck. But in the future I'd suggest you get the Apple care since you seem to already be planning to move over to a Zune with extended warranty.

I have no desire to buy another apple product again, like I said, I don't want them to replace it I just want them to know how I feel about this happening twice.

Gonna respond to everything. I really do not feel like I should have to buy the extended warranty on a product I am paying over 500 dollars for. Also there is no apple store in my area, and whenever I have dealt with apple before they have managed to screw me over.

perhaps you are dealing with it the wrong way

i have many apple products and they have been nothing but helpful if a problem happens

the same with my friends, they had things replaced that were out of warranty

When my second gen (2002) ipod died a year ago, they (the phone service and the store) both told me they were surprised it lasted half as long as it had. I rarely used the thing (though I loved it when I did). They thought it was probably just the battery, but as it was so old they no longer carried the replacement battery. I thought this was rather lame, because I really didn't want another.

    ...

I have a shuffle now only for running. When that dies, I'll go for whatever is cheapest. I guarantee you the Zune will function/die in the same fashion. At least each time you have to replace it they get cheaper and better.

Seriously. And there's no way Apple's customer care is worse then Microsoft's.

One time I bought some music off the itunes store, when I went to play it on my ipod it wouldn't play. Same thing from my computer, so I deleted it all and re bought it. I actually even made a thread on it here somewhere. Same problem, it refused to play. I emailed apple and it seemed to be going well they gave me song credits to buy any some different songs that I wanted since I had payed for it twice while they tried to figure it out. Than I stopped hearing from them, finally I received an email back from a different person saying I was supposed to use those credits to rebuy the same fucking songs. Which is not what the first person had told me.

Eventually they just quit responding to my emails. It was easily my worst customer experience with any company.

Microsoft has been very good about fixing my xbox, even when it was out of warranty. It may not go over to their zunes but I am willing to give them a try over buying another Ipod.
