Rumor is 4.5 millions for five years for Komisarek in Toronto.

What the hell Bob Gainey!!!!??? For two millions more than Hall Gill we could have kept our future captain you horrible waste of flesh!

The oddest thing about today : no big signings for the Rangers. I tought they'd use Gomez's money on someone else.

12 years for Marian Hossa when they'll have Toews and Kane to give big raise to in short order? WTF is Chicago thinking?

Yeah, that contract is going to be an albatross around their necks when they have to start resigning their young talent, and with the cap likely to come down after next season.

That they'll trade Brian Cambell before free agency next year.

Also i bet a million dollars Burke will sign that piece of shit Bertuzzi soon.

As one of the live bloggers on Puck Daddy put it, Hossa will be 42 years old when his contract expires.

    Yikes.

nah, Burt is going to resign with Calgary. He's already said that he is waiting for Calgary and will take the same or less money to play here next season.

They had him, gave him away (Phoenix), brought him back (Phantoms), gave him away (San Jose) and now bringing him back. I liked Boucher in 99-00 but he's horribly inconsistent. There are other backup goalies out there assuming Ray Emery is now the starter and Marty and Nitty are out.

It wouldnt be UFA day if the Rangers didn't gave at least one stupidly high contract.

I can't believe this. This means Kovalev is probably not coming back. The most electrifying player we had in years and the only one who was worth a damn in the playoffs.

Garon to CBJ. I guess insurance if Mason gets the sophmore jinx.

Edit: Also, that Gaborik contract is insane given his health problems. But I guess they dumped Gomez's contract, so they had the space.

    Double Edit.

I believe the Habs are now officially the smallest team in the league. Our first line is

    Cammalleri-Gomez-Gionta

    That's 5.09, 5.11, 5.7

And the rest of the team isn't much better.

Have you ever heard of team signing their entire first line from the free agent market? This is madness.

Good riddance. We need players who are gonna show up for every game.

the artist has got to produce man!

anyway, he's not gone yet. I think he'll have a hard time finding somewhere else who will take him.

I really wish we picked up more size. Reluctance to go into the corners has been killing us for years.

Great, another Habs team that will get ground to dust in the 1st round...

I am glad Komisarek is gone though. He is really not worth 4.5mil.

That kind of nationalist bullcrap is part of what turned me off the Habs. What matters is not where the player was born, but if he have what it takes to win.

There is nothing bad about wanting a few players you can associate with. We are, after all, the ones who have to cheer for them.

I'm not asking for half the team to be French, but at least a handful. And especially when you already have French talent in your team in Alex Tanguay, it's strange that you'd let him get away.

Bear in mind I said my favourite player was a Russian.

I have been gone most of the day.

There needs to be more laughing at the Rangers and their terrible signing. I can't wait to play Gaborik once...you know...since he will be injured seven games into the season.

John Madden to Chicago as well, but only for one year so doesn't fuck up their cap in the Kane/Toews/Keith re-signing next year.

Depending on what Flames paid I would say that's not a bad sign. Shoestrings is a pretty solid defensive winger and great at killing power plays.

Yeah, thats what people are saying on the Flames message board. Something of a replacement for Matthew Lombardi: (who we traded to Pheonix as part of the Jokinen deal) high energy, fast wheels, will help solidify our PK with a constant break away threat that we lost with Lombo gone and Bourque out near the end of the season.

edit: Flames payed less than 1 mil for him. 750K

It's not a huge signing by any means, but Laperriere to Philadelphia is.....man, he was the heart and soul of Colorado.

Well played, Philly. You're getting a player who might not be the best man out there but will give every thing he has every night.
