I was just wondering if it was a ranking of 'best lyricists' or something specific. Dead Prez is great btw, though most of their awesome is on Let's Get Free by far.
There's some good'uns on Revolutionary But Gangsta too, though.
I don't think Dead Prez gets enough credit for the beats on their albums. Some of those tracks like Bigger Than Hip Hop (both versions, actually) are just stupidly well produced.

Seriously. If you haven't yet, everyone should check out Dave Chappelle's Block Party. Dead Prez plays 'Hip Hop' and it ends up being some FREEDOM! William Wallace type shit. Very cool. Also he brings in the Fugees.

That shit happened like 6 blocks from my house, and I fucking missed it.
I love suddenly remembering old songs I used to have before my CD collection got nabbed. Yesterday I was reminded of Josh Martinez and how much I liked Buck Up Princess.
(McEnroe at like 1:25 when his verse starts is so epic IMO)
I'm liking that DJ Quik and Kurupt - Blaqout album.
it got an extremely positive review on p4k (where you can stream it), and the highest score for a rap album since 'Tha Carter III', although if anyones thinking of getting it, just be aware that the review makes it sound more like a producer's album than a rap album.
can we talk about rnb here? coz ive had the new mariah carey single stuck on repeat for like 3 days.
There's a tad bit of auto-tone for one part, but it doesn't matter, 'cause it's Lupe.
I can't go to the link, but is that the new song with... what's his name... Mathew Santos? The dude from Superstar (among other collaberations with him)?

During a concert in Boston, Fiasco played the chorus of a song called "Shining Down", which eventually led to a snippet being leaked onto the internet.[4] On May 17, a low quality version of the single leaked onto the internet, possibly stemming from a rip from the "FNF TV Stream".[5]
"Shining Down" was intended to be the first single off of Everywhere, the first of the three CDs that LupE.N.D. is composed of.[6] But because its release was withheld, there is speculation circulating that it may be the first single from Lasers. The song is produced by Soundtrakk and features Matthew Santos, in the same collaborative manner that Lupe featured Santos on his hit lead single, "Superstar" for his sophomore album, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool.
"Shining Down" was leaked on Tuesday, June 16th 2009.[7] Fiasco stated that he was angry at the leak; Matthew Santos confirmed, however, that the leaked track is not the final mix.[8][9]
Pound for pound, DJ Quik is a better producer than Dr. Dre

Ok, trying to find an album and I don't know the artist, album title, or even many of the lyrics. I just remember that one of the tracks had a line with the phrase "two blunts later" said like Ludacris's line about gators in Missy Elliot's Gossip Folk. And I think one of the tracks was something to do with illy/PCP.
Hmm.
edit: Where's the old rap thread? I might be able to find it there.
the P.O.S. album is like the best thing for running
Yeah, I've always loved working out and/or running to his albums.
Here's another one to check out for running, I listen to it almost every time I run. Nike had a bunch of independent artists do 45 minute songs to run to, and this is Aesop Rock's Love it.

Man, you really run to P.O.S.? His music is cool, but it doesn't seem really the right tempo to jog to. The only album I've heard is never better, though.
are those 45 minute running things all together somewhere? that is a neat idea.
Eat it You Nasty Pig. on
it was the smallest on the list but
Pluto was a planet and I'll never forget
also, is anyone going to Rock the Bells? I'd like to, mostly for The Roots and Talib. K'naan is on the tour, but not when it's closest to me
I went in 2008 in NYC. Great lineup, but most artists only got like 10 or 20 minute sets. The main stage was fucking loud so you couldn't hear the second stage, but the sound quality was so shitty you couldn't make out any of the lyrics.

Will do, I didn't know he had a new one out actually.

Pretty much everything off Dusty Foot Philosopher. I saw this cat opening for Stephen Marley, and he puts on a crazy live show.
