I, too, liked Chuck Austen's run on X-Men. Though I haven't read the Draco. And I support Juggernaut sleeping with She-Hulk 100%, it completely made sense in context.

Actually, wait, I've made a mistake. This is the secret shame thread and I am not ashamed.

Chuck Austin's run on X-Men was terribad. However, I am ashamed to admit that I liked the She Lies With Angel's arc.

Granted it was just a piss-poor retelling of Romeo and Juliet... but damn if I didn't enjoy it. I also liked Angel with Paige, so there.

I only found out about this Austen character's run on X-Men from reading Exiles. I thought it was an alternate universe until the end of the arc and then I was baffled.

I have less than zero knowledge of who or what Ultimate Warrior is. When the name was first mentioned here, I thought it referred to an Ultimate Universe version of Guy Gardner.

I was going to post the link to the Ultimate Warrior's website for you amusement, but then I realized that could be taken the wrong way. He's just way too Ultimate to inflict on an impressionable young mind.

You're just better off not knowing.

They are gay ankle-pouches to put his condoms in. His get up is very "All that Jazz" or Broadway dance rehearsal.

No, you see, everyone who knew Peter is Spider-Man pre-OMD only don't know after OMD. They kind of explained it in the two parter with the Fantastic Four. They also explained that it is impossible to figure out who he is unless he tells you or you unmask him.

Oh! Again, back when I was in middle school, I frequented the local comic book shop. One day, they had a stack of cheap comics - fifty cents apiece - and I came across Strawberry Shortcake #1, published back in the 70s by Marvel. To my eleven year old brain, this was a rare treasure and surely worth more than fifty cents. This was a #1 issue and it was old! It'd be worth $100 in no time!

I still have it somewhere...and I read it, too. The purple Pie Man was trying to sabotage Shortcake's pie and somehow they stretched that plot out over twenty five pages.

    My shame:

I bought the first two issues of the Dark Knight Strikes Again. My sister, not knowing any better bought me the hardcover collection as a gift. I gave those away. Recently I went to my friend's place and was helping her clean her house. I saw my copies all battered and torn. She then replies,

'Oh yeah. WHY did you give me that shit?"

    But my real shame?

When we were kids, my friend distracted a new employee at Al's Comics while I grabbed a copy of "Housewives", a pornographic comic about bored housewives who have these massive orgies while their husbands are at work. Not having seen us pick it off the "adults only shelves" we were able to buy that along with our superhero comics.

My secret shame is that I've come to fucking love 90% of DKSA. It's a shitty sequel to DKR, the pacing's awful, many of the characters are woefully underdeveloped, and the art goes to shit after the first few chapters, but the rest of it is made up of terribly fun little character bits.

It reads much better in bits and pieces, rather than as a cohesive whole.

The introduction of the Question, Elongated Man's break-in at Arkham Asylum, and the bits about the Atom are still some of my favorite takes on those characters.

I would agree that there were interesting character bits, the art was...interesting (a little overblown and over experimental, but not as terrible as some say), but the story was shit.

Sure the concept was brilliant. Heroes being hunted by their greatest who are now at the mercy of their mortal enemy. The President being a holographic image. Jimmy Olsen becoming the question and the oversexualized media being injected into everyday life to such an extent it is inescapable. But how it unfolded was so incoherent and all over the place.

The whole thing was just an excercise in how far Miller can push icons into "OH SHIT" moments.
