A Spectrum and SpectralSpork joint
(With thanks to Ardor)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQnUSMaoCxA&feature=relatedFuyuki City is the setting for a secret and violent war among competing magi. For the past two centuries, seven sorcerers have gathered and engage in a Battle Royale, each gambling his or her own life to obtain the Holy Grail, a legendary chalice capable of granting wishes. The past four Holy Grail Wars have typically occurred every sixty years, with the most recent concluding a decade ago, but the fifth war has started prematurely.
Each of the sorcerers, better known as Masters, is aided by one of the seven summoned spiritual familiars known as Servants, who are the reincarnations of legendary souls from all across time. These resurrected Heroic Spirits, possess superhuman characteristics and are drawn from a series of seven classes; of those present in this war are Saber, Archer, Lancer, Berserker, Rider, Assassin, and Caster.
However, for the other unfortunate, unknowing residents of Fuyuki City, the Grail War is only a mysterious and widescale tragedy, which seems to result in widescale hardship and loss of life even as the cause remains unknown.
This is a Phalla, the Penny Arcade version of the party game Mafia. This in particular is a Mini Phalla, which is smaller and shorter in duration than a Main Phalla. Confused? The
CF Phalla Signup List will probably prove informative.
The usual Phalla rules apply. No screen caps, no anonymous contact, no dead people talking to the living, no quoting/sharing of PMs from from the host, etc. Also, don't forget to PM us the URL of all proboards!
ALL PRIVATE MESSAGES SHOULD BE SENT TO THIS HOST ACCOUNT, NOT TO OUR USUAL ACCOUNTS.Vote close is at 10PM EDT. Narration will follow as soon as possible and will be posted no later than 12pm EDT.
Please note that this is the first of what will be several minis based in the same theme intended for practice and testing purposes. We've done our best to balance these and keep them interesting but some mechanics and numbers that we're playing with may end up having unforeseen consequences, for which we apologize. The main purpose is to have all the kinks worked out for the main next year. We welcome any and all criticism during the post-game.
This particular game will be our first time hosting, so don't expect anything *too* crazy. We hope.
This is a basic mechanics, medium events game.
Every day, you must vote for one person in
bold red to be eliminated from the game. Retractions are unnecessary unless you are specifically abstaining for the time being.
Votes in posts that have been edited will not be counted. Retractions will not be necessary.
Aside from the initial distribution of roles, the RNG will not be used at all in this game. Vote ties will be resolved by the death of the first person to reach the total.
While source knowledge may prove helpful, it is not necessary in order to participate in this game. In actuality, source knowledge may actually hurt you as you may expect certain abilities or event triggers (or characters!) which we have chosen not to use for this game either for balance or complexity reasons.
Action Order:
Actions? > Vote > Various Actions > Kills
If the Vote kills the target of an ability, that ability with fizzle to no effect.Public Role Reveals:
The Grail Wars are fought in the shadows between powerful Magicians and their Servants. Foolish heroes of justice wishing to shout their identity from the rooftops may find that the other participants in the Grail War have abilities that make that unwise.
Or, they may find themselves in no danger at all. Fortune favors the bold.
Inactivity:
As much as it would amuse us to be experimental with this, the standard two posts and a vote per day apply. If you miss either of these requirements for two days, you will be replaced.
Villager PM:
You are...
...a citizen of Fuyuki city, who has become increasingly worried about the recent epidemic of gas leaks and other problems within the mostly recovered city. Such is your paranoia that you have begun to notify the police of the slightest oddity around your homestead, as a proper citizen should.
Mechanics: None. You are a villager.
Win Condition: As a result of the death of a Servant, a little piece of the Grail War has been made public. Thought you fully know it not, your goal is now:
Bring order to Fuyuki City and keep the Holy Grail safe by eliminating all Servants and Masters who seek it for selfish reasons.
Clarifications:
As typical, please ask all clarifications in
bold orange.
1) If you had the good fortune to be masoned with someone, they are guaranteed to share your win condition.
2) There are vanillagers in this game.
3) There are no thralls or millers of any kind.
4) There may or may not be vote immunity.
(Clarification preemptively denied.)
5) What scenario is this based off of?
Clarification preemptively denied. There's enough info out there, however, to make an educated guess.
6) What qualifies as an "event"?
When A occurs, B happens in response.
7) What happens if you double-kill a guarded target?
Clarification denied. For now. The people that need to know will know, though.

Even if I wanted too, Spectrum wouldn't let me.
Spectrum is not on at the moment.
Can I call you SpectrumSpork?
No.
Edit: The same applies to you Houn.
Still no.
Remember that I am the only thing that stands between you and unrestrained Spork insanity.
Don't test your luck.
If I think of a good enough name can I call you that?
Like...
I'll allow it.
What qualifies as an "event"?
When A occurs, B happens in response.
So like, if Mrs Voorhees uses her power to kill someone, she ceases to show up as good-aligned?
Yes, but not necessarily in that same structure. Further clarification denied
I'm right here :winky:
I thought you'd be a "mechanic".
