Have you not heard the saying "Beer before liquor, never been sicker; liquor before beer, in the clear"?

But I find it just depends on the person. I don't mind mixing it up, but I've known people to have pretty bad reactions.

i've heard a lot of half-bright axioms like that. it never occurred to me that people knew what they were talking about.

I either drink liquor or beer. Occasionally I'll do beer and a shot of bourbon, but after a while you'll get the sass gut something fierce unless you're eating like BBQ or steak.

    Liquor is always bad really

I guess you get used to drinking a larger volume with less effect, so you drop more liquor down

This is not a universal truth, but there are those who abide by the motto:

"Beer before Liquor, never sicker; Liquor before Beer, in the clear."

I myself have never found mixing beer and hard liquor to necessitate a predetermined order to prevent any sort of copious vomiting, but I know plenty of people who follow this mantra.

e: and of course I jumped into this thread 10 minutes late and was beaten to the punch

It's one half truth, the other half just totally in your head.

Think of it like this: Some people can stomach spicy foods, others get sick when they eat something too spicy.

It's a matter of what kind of stuff you're cramming down your gullet, whats already down there and if you can handle it.

Would I ever advise mixing lots of dairy based drinks with things like whiskey or tequila? No. But then, some people can drink beer ontop of ice cream, some can't.

in the end the only trouble with mixing multiple types of alcohol together is that you're probably drinking a lot in the first place.

All I drink is beer. Yuengling, Sam Adams Light (Not Boston somehow that is much worse), Miller Lite at bars usually for not losing $Texas.

The last 2 or 3 times I had liquor I woke up next to a pool of my own vomit, so I just quit it like 3 years ago.

Also, most people I know that have bad tequila stories drank shitty rot gut tequila. High quality tequila is a treasure. You can sip it straight up. Save the medium stuff for mixed drinks, and use the low shelf stuff to clean electrical equipment or to get freshmen hammered.

The episode of Home Movies where Coach McGuirk teaches this lesson was on the other night.

Why did that get no reaction? Everybody knows what beer is, right?"

DING DING DING DING DING DING

My girlfriend gets sick every time she drinks. She used to make the excuse "it's because I mix my alcohol!" to which I would say, "No, you're the lightest of lightweights."

She soon learned that she couldn't keep down her alcohol no matter what she drank.

Thank God she doesn't drink anymore. She was always a sloppy mess. She could get completely drunk off of one beer.
