Paragon, Epic, Heroic, whatever... I'd love to play Eberron!

I've only played Heroic tier so far, and would be happy to do the mid-levels of heroic or Paragon or start at 1st... I'm not picky. As long as I'm not in a party full of passive-agressive infighters, I don't care. (Not to say there can't be one or two, just please not 5 of them :D)

Since this is the recruitment post, here's my concept, short and simple. I run two games here. I've been in two pbp games here. I was in your maptools games a while back. I like bard-Callum better then cleric-Callum so here's a different character:

Ziff "Zee-zee" Zoorander (Real name: Roe)
"They call mee Zee-zee for short."

Ziff is a traveling magician of some renown in his own head. He specializes in birthdays for noble brats. Roe is a spy hiding in plain sight. He specializes in birthdays for noble brats. May also be a male escort.

Three options for development: "Dual dagger wielding chaos sorcerer", "Dual wand wielding illusionist wizard", "Dual rod wielding fey pact warlock." Leaning toward the Wizard though just to work in the prestidigitation more.

Oh yeah, and do you have a rule about how many concepts we can post? Because I have a good idea for another character that I'd really like to make.

I really like the invoker that someone posted. That was righteous....

3clipse, is your dwarf going to be dual wield or archer? I'm curious because I am running a Dwarf ranger in another game & had a hard time with him.

His powers seemed weaker in combat than my allies--at-will wise--I've since re-trained Hit & Run (which I never needed) for Careful Strike--I'm thinking of him as a Striker heavy on defender. Great HP, mediocre to-hit & lower damage output.

It must be easier for races like Elves with their fancy swords... but with that being said, in terms of character, I really like playing the Dwarf Ranger. he has a good assortment of skills & is very useful outside of combat.

I don't really have a limit on concepts or anything no.

I expect to actually organize things by the weekend.

streever - Dual wield (it has that on the character sheet, sorry). With Dwarven Weapon Training and the right weapons (like 2x Craghammers), Twin Strike can put out 10-20 damage/turn at 1st level, which is pretty nasty. Even with only a modest con you can get 30+ HP too, since Twin-Blade Style gives you Toughness as a bonus feat.

The only way to really have a Dwarf ranger work is to give them a couple hammers or axes, because they can get really nice +damage with them.

'kay, I'll probably be posting another one up at some point today too.

Unlikely to be 1st level I think, but definitely could be Heroic tier still.

The process is going to be: read fluff, think of awesome story for campaign riddled with tropes, figure out where it fits in level-wise, inform the thread!

Excellent. That's my only pet peeve about the games on here; most of them start at level 1: the most boring of all D&D levels. :P

At least 4E at level 1 is better than 3E. 3E 1st level was like, fight 2 monsters, and then sleep because everyone had to expend all their powers, and the wizard dies.

Sadly, yes, and I somehow always managed to play with DMs who insisted we started at level 1 until college, at which point I met DMs who wouldn't start below level 3.

I like it!! For a long term campaign at least... it's nice to really "meet" your companions & start up together. With that being said, for an adventure, I think it's much more exciting to start at 2 or 4...

There's no law that says you can't meet up for the first time if you're above level 1. You could have just been doing your own thing, your friends flaked on you (or got eaten :)), and you need a new crew.

Tanir, Avenger of the Undying Court
    Auspicious Birth background

    Personality:
Tanir is somewhat cool and reserved, but polite and generally cheerful. He doesn't often joke, but he will laugh at things he finds funny (although he never loses himself to raucous laughter or anything uncontrolled, for that matter). He can go from pleasant and laughing to deadly silent in an instant if he senses a threat, and he misses very little.

His devotion is first and foremost to the living ancestors he serves, but he is loyal to those he perceives as trustworthy, worth helping, or simply his friends. He is incredibly tenacious and does not give up pursuing his objective until it has been fulfilled.
    Apperance:
His hair is obsidian black and reaches to just above his shoulders; it is oddly shaggy for an elf's. His eyes are a sharp, icy blue and seem to notice everything that goes on around him. He is constantly alert and watchful, but not tense, like a predatory cat. He is tall and thin, but moves with extreme grace and nimbleness.

He wears a long, hooded robe which is raven black. Over his shoulders is slung a massive two-handed sword with ebon runes etched into the blade. A symbol of the Undying Court hangs from his belt.

He smiles, and seems genuinely happy, but you get the impression that crossing him would be unwise.
    Background:
Tanir was born deep in the forests of Aerenal, on a night in the peak of winter where the moon was absent and the ravens of the forest called loudly to the midnight sky, to a priestess of the Undying Court. She had had no lover for many months, but had been given a child by the power of the undead ancestors she served. "We will give to you a son," the deathless elves said, "but you will train him in our ways, and when he passes to adulthood he shall be ours, to do with as we please." Thus it was that Tanir was conceived, and carried by his mother until the day of his birth.

He grew up in the temple of the Undying Court where his mother was a priestess and was taught not only the doctrines of the deathless, but the ways of battle and the art of the blade. He excelled above all others in defeating the foes of the Undying Court, and the Aerenal elves in general, whenever they threatened the safety of the temple and his home, and was given special training by the best swordmaster in the small village surrounding the temple.

On the day he became an adult, the Undying Court came to him, telling him of the circumstances surrounding his birth and his training in their temple. They told him of their plans for him and sent him into the world as one of their Avengers. He wanders Aerenal, occasionally venturing further into Eberron, seeking and destroying the enemies of Aerenal and of the deathless elves he serves.

    EDIT: Changed religion.

Ooh, actually, I have no idea either.

The Eberron Adventurer's Guide doesn't say, and it only has a few deities. If Inf has a problem with her being my deity I can totally change gods and change my background to reflect it, haha.

It would be BAD ASS if your avenger was doing the will of the Undying court...

very similar... you'd still hate undead with a passion.

It'd be a lot like worshipping the Raven queen, only you could be friendlier :D Just as grim though. Imagine the possibilities.....!

It's true Cytorak, you can even say they've always been together--I just like that feel of progressing from those painful early days to bigger & better things. I also really enjoy the limitations of level 1--

I'm like that in pretty much any game I play--I always really enjoy the harder early days!

Inf do you want me to just go ahead and change the Avenger's backstory to one of the Eberron deities now? If I do, it will be to the Undying Court (even fits with where he's from!!!!), but will be mostly the same in terms of special conception/etc.

    Fie, Deva Articifer
"I am a RESEARCHER. I am NOT a wizard. How many times do I have to say it! Now get out of my way & let me inspect that."

I've also included some hooks at the end.
    and the myth-weaver sheet:
    http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=142812
(can you tell I'm excited to play in eberron?)

    Personality
"Don't touch that you dolt!" Fie is a researcher. He is obsessed with uncovering the inner workings of the universe, and his personality betrays him, and has a hard time maintaining his social life. (as well as his clothing & appearance). While Deva typically are refined & immaculate, Fie has completely failed at keeping up proper appearances. Not a bad person, but distracted--tends to yell--loses his temper instantly & recovers just as quickly.

    Mannerisms & Appearance
Like all deva, Fie is tall and unearthly. His skin is chalk white, with vertical stripes of deep blue--almost black. His hair is pure white and messy--sticking up in some places--flat in others. He talks mostly about the secrets of the universe--magic, maps, exploration--and when he really gets going, it's hard to make him shut up. He tends toward being rude--but he ignores slights & is never offended. He is impatient--another odd trait in a Deva. One can only speculate what his past lives were like--he doesn't talk about them, except if he remembers something pertinent to his investigations.
Fie smokes a pipe & has a host of nervous habits--tapping his fingers, pushing his reading glasses up his nose (even when they aren't on) and tugging on his own hair.

    Companions & Allies
Fie is a member of Morgrave University--dedicated to exploration & the unearthing of secrets. Whilst most of the members of this University are devoted to one speciality--far off lands, treasures, magic--Fie is enamored of them all, and virtually at the same time. This has earned him rivalry & some admiration--all too often he's decided to get in on a project that someone else has devoted years to, stealing the spotlight & ruining the researchers chances at a proper debut.

In particular, he feels great animosty toward Cullen the Stout--a Dwarven researcher who shattered his initial equilibrium & caused him to forget many details of his past lives. Cullen has no idea that Fie hates him, and instead imagines the two have a tight bond, seeking him out & forcing himself & his tireless tales of adventure, drinking, & women upon him.

    Background
Waking up in the Demon Wastes, with neither weapons nor clothing, Fie knew it all--every life he'd lived--every deed he'd done--every good act, and every selfish one. His memory was clear, & he was all of his incarnations at one. The Deva simply sat where he was, not moving, reliving everything--savoring each experience. He was shocked out of his reverie by the apperance of Morgrave University researcher Cullen the Stout--a loud, hearty dwarf with a proclivity for hands-on learning.

Cullen & his band brought Fie back to Morgrave, but long before he'd arrived, the perils of the open road forced him to confront the immediate reality around him. He lost his precious memories, and dedicated himself to uncovering all the mysteries of the world. He has limited memories of some of his past incarnations--including where they kept their notes & journals--and will do anything to recover his prior knowledge

    HOOKS
--One of his old journals has been found
--One of his past lives was kind of a jerk
    --Anything involving Cullen
--Another researcher tries to set him up for failure
You get the idea... feel free to do anything with his background, it's all yours.

I'm in Bogart's Halls Of Tizun Thane which just ended. I am very active--work from home on the computer full-time for the last 8 years--so it is no problem for me to post regularly. I always hate it when people go AWOL!
Ok, so I read this, and got an idea.

My character is a Lo, Changeling Rogue
Streever's character seems kind of like Indiana Jones, without the Indiana part, as in, he's not someone who is going to climb into an ancient tomb himself and come out with an ancient artifact. So I thought maybe I'd make the Indiana to this guy's Jones. Someone that he'll sometimes pay to go and get something for him, either from a tomb, or perhaps from a rich owner who won't let him inspect it.

Basically I'm a thief and a tomb raider. I'm equally at home breaking into and robbing a top story library or apartment, or venturing into a dungeon or tomb to get something that Fie, or one of my clients wants. And, since I'm a Changeling, I take on a different persona for each client (and I never let them know I'm a Changeling). Sometimes this leads to me stealing from one client for another client, or even stealing back something I've previously stolen. Have I ever stolen from Fie? Maybe, I'm sure as hell not telling him, though.

I've never done a PbP before, but I've been a member here for, like, ever.

I like the character concept! and my note to the DM (feel free to mess with the background--heck, even bring my rival Cullen to life) is fair game to everyone--if it would help advance the story, make it more fun, feel free to build off of any of my character's hooks or background nonsense.

I really like (for instance) the way that Arividia's adventurer's planned out their aquaintance, using each other's backgrounds/the world to come up with interesting hooks.

And I think you nailed my character on the head--he'll come along, because he's suspicious, but he's not the one disarming traps or punching out the bad guys. He's the one yelling, "DON'T DAMAGE THE ARTIFACT!" in the background :)

You can pull the Dwarf Ranger down, if I get to play (which I very much want =P) I'd way prefer to play the Avenger.

Just go ahead and remove Baern as an option.

Roe is a changeling, and since he asked for concepts and not class specs I didn't choose a class. I can go with any of the ones I listed for the character.
