Someone explain to an idiot: this mini display to DVI adapter only transmits digital signals, not analog signals. What does that mean, practically? If I'm using an analog tuner to capture TV stations, that picture won't be forwarded to the monitor?

Without more information the answer would be: it would work fine, the signal is eventually turned into a digital signal when it leaves whatever device the analog tuner is installed inside of. What devices are you using specifically?

quite annoyed.

I mean are you talking about your MacBook Organichu? Or a TV? Or what?
If you have an analog tuner working with your MacBook it would give the analog signal to your MacBook and by the time it leaves the MacBook for the monitor through the adapter it's already a digital signal.

It'll work. If your analog tuner displays the TV channels on your screen, when you hook up an external monitor to the mini display port, it'll display just fine. The analog tuner converts the signals to a digital format anyway.

every place assumes i have a driver's license. i actually don't have any photo ID of any sort. my provincial health card has my picture and age and shit on it, but for some fucking reason or another places don't take that as ID.
i could get an Age of Majority card which would function for some things (buying booze and getting into nightclubs mostly) but i do those things so infrequently and even rarer do i have a hassle over it (generally i am not carded for things) that i can't justify the cost.

The analog tuner is going into your MacBook right? By the time it leaves your MacBook it's a digital signal because it can't leave through the mini-display port any other way.

Pretty sure it has more to do with what you are plugging it into.
Like you can't do minidisplay>dvi>vga because there is no analog signal. You can normally do DVI>VGA because DVI has both signals(if it is not coming from minidisplay).

Some DVI ports also pass along the analog signal. This allows you to use a DVI->DSUB adapter. I think DVI ports without the analog part won't work with the adapter, so you couldn't hook monitors up with an analog input.

i once asked her, point blank, if she was still in love with me and her answer was she didn't know
our relationship was over in basically every way but name
and then she fucked off to france for a month without me, even though it was something we had planned to do together. i wasn't able to pull it off financially, whereas her parents paid for her end, so she left without me.
so it was basically over, we just hadn't said the words to end it

Nope, however I do have the interesting circumstance of wearing glasses in my picture, but not having the 'vision' impairment marked on my license since I didn't get them until I was 17. That might change in a couple years when I need to get it renewed, though it didn't when I turned 21.
