If the patent artist only knew how much unintentional joy he or she has brought into our lives. Seriously, drawing patent sketches must be the equivalent of being a janitor in the artist's world. It might make up for all the lame shit they had to draw.
I'm sure they fight over who gets to draw the sex patents.
Kids. Happened when I went to see Spider-Man at the theater.
I've seen people applaud at the movies, too. When Milla Jovovich or whatever her name is fought the zombie dogs in the first Resident Evil movie, people clapped in excitement for some reason.

Well, a movie is different since it is more of a social thing. Can't say I've ever seen anyone clap at a TV though.
Call-and-response can be very important for some movies and shows. Snakes on a Plane and The Rocky Horror Picture Show come to mind as obvious film examples.

Yeah, I mean I've seen that. But never an actual applaud.

I've never seen someone, pale and alone, applaud something on TV they way they envision the laughing man doing so...
That said, my entire family will sit around the TV and applaud Tiger Woods' killer drives. Or a NY Giants victory. Basically, sports and large groups of people.

If people aren't applauding at the tv, maybe that's because the tv isn't doing a good enough job of tracking what they find interesting and tailoring the content to them. Mocking the concept of people applauding at the tv is like looking at the patent for the airplane and mocking the concept of the pilot rising into the air. Everyone knows that people can't fly!

Okay, maybe not.
All I know is when the Galactica jumped into atmosphere, free-fell, launched Vipers in a firery mist, and jumped out before smashing into the ground, not only did I applaud, but I pumped my fist in the air, leapt up off the couch, and ejaculated a roar of triumph.

I knew there was something that I wanted to do! Totally forgot about it.

I stand corrected...clearly I got ahead of things.
Halloween masks must be first, for sure.:^:

That's it... I am making this fucking shit for PAX next year.
Couldn't stop laughing after a few seconds into the new version of Slash's video.
There's so much awesome stuff going on in this thread it makes my guts hurt.
The Laughing Man's day job? You decide.
And the earlier dwarf fortress entry inspired me to frankenstein this one.

If you do, let me know. I may spend a shit-tonne of cash just to see that in person (amongst the general goodness of PAX)
