4 chapters. First 3 chapters are the same 5-parter style all the stories use. 4th is really just one board with no rewards and a straight shot to the final battle.

Woo, finally got my first character to level 100 (Zidane). I didn't abuse anything, just played through the story things a few times on bonus days.
The tough thing for me now is abilities. I've mastered my favorite ground and aerial brave attacks and their Meo Twister followups, and the only HP attack I think I'll ever use (Free Energy), but I just feel like I should probably be mixing it up.
I'll have more CP to deal with as soon as I master the Boost++ abilities, at least. The complete Diamond set is speeding up the process, too.
I'm probably going to use Terra or Kefka next.
Where/how do you get the boost abilities?
The basic Boost abilities are gained through the normal course of leveling. You get enhanced versions (Boost+) by mastering the basic versions.
But... my Zidane is at level 100. I don't have boost .
You don't have Speed Boost, Jump Boost, or Jump Times Boost? You should have gotten them all while leveling up. They should be in the list somewhere.
OH. Yeah, I have that. Sorry you said you'd have more CP to deal with, and so I thought there was an ability just called Boost that would like give you more CP. But I realise what you meant now, I just misread it. My bad!
It is the one thing that I don't like about what we've seen. It's like the devs got a bunch of twelve year olds together and were like "what is cool" and one of them said "I like Transformers" and thus Shiva Bike was born.
Cue protagonist and rival having an epic [strike]car[/strike] summon race.

This of course raises the question of what Vin Diesels summon would be

So I can't use Garland in story mode?
That's dumb.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I'm not at TGS Prof, but I will pass the message on to my guy there to ask about Vanille's name in our FF13 interview. I'll also ask Snow's Voice actor if we chat between now and when we meet in October..
So, is this higher price going to translate to a higher price for the other regions retail releases as well?
Doubtful. Japan always gets overcharged for Squeenix games. If you think the "Square-Enix Tax" for DS games is bad here, go look at the prices for DQIX.
... which one of those people is the pedophile? Jecht's old enough to be Terra's dad, but Cloud of Darkness is over 1000 years old...
But yes. Best worst dad ever.
How old was Terra in the original FF6? FF6 was pretty much the last final fantasy where the heroes ages mostly made sense (ie not a bunch of 14-16 year olds) Although i believe Terra may have been the youngest other than Relm.
someday we will have a jrpg that doesn't insist on making all its characters adolescents except for one or two people in their thirties who will always be called 'old'
VII wasn't too bad with ages at the time the game took place, but if you went back it got kind of stupid. 'cause Cloud was like... 14/15 when he signed up with Shinra. I don't think they specify in VII how old Zack is, but he's like 17 or 18 in Crisis Core which is dumb since he's already First Class.
In VII proper it's not too bad though. The youngest is Yuffie and everyone else is over 20.

Locke was 25
Edgar was 27
So was Sabin
So was Setzer
Cyan was 50 and absolutely no attention was called to it.
Strago was 70 and on even fighting terms with the rest of the party.
And Terra/Celes were raised as magical killing machines literally from birth, so they have an excuse for being young.
So yeah.

Terra and Celes are both 18, and the rest of the adult cast are mid-twenties. Also, everyone in FFVI is friggin' tall- Terra is 5'7", Celes is 5'9," and most of the guys are taller.

Probably not, it's just a convention of the culture that develops them. It's not a common thing in WRPGs, but I doubt it'll ever *not* be common in JRPGs.

Having teenaged RPG leads is really cool until you stop being a teenager yourself. Do you remember being seventeen? You're a dumbass at seventeen! I wanna be saved by the guy who's twenty-seven. He's at least payed taxes. He knows how to do shit. He can drive.
Well, Yuna had to seem older than 17, what with everything that was placed at her feet. And, don't forget, Spira isn't an easy place to live, with the constant threat of Sin. It probably ages you a good bit. Tidus is the only one that came from a peaceful world with a fairly easy lifestyle of being a famous sports star. It makes sense that he's the one that most resembles, physically and mentally, his actual age.
And, really, Auron only looks a little bit older than 35. Like 40, tops. He just has a little gray streak and a couple lines around the eyes. The rest of the "age" is all scars and stubble.
I just think Yuna still seems old for her age even considering her burden. Her at 20 or 21 still would've been putting an astounding amount on her but also slightly more believable.
I seem to remember the ages being somewhat reasonable in Final Fantasy VII too. I think that Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris were at least all in their 20s. Most of the rest of the characters were appropriately aged. The only one I can think of being a problem is Sephiroth, who seems awfully young to have people growing up looking up to him.
And as for Auron, as anecdotal evidence, I expect to have a gray streak by 35 at the rate I'm going.
If I remember right, Cloud was 21, Tifa was 20, Aeris was 22.
Did they ever state how old Sephiroth was? He comes off as mid-20s or older in CC but that's mostly because of the voice. I know Squeenix would never make their favourite prettyboy older than mid 20s, but he just came off as an older character to me when I originally played VII.

In my defense, I did say mostly - although I thought Celes was older. Uhhh.... I blame genetic engineering and raised from birth to lead?

No, he isn't at the beginning. Crisis Core takes place in a seven year timespan and he doesn't start out as a First Class.

Rikku was the youngest, at just 15; Yuna and Tidus were both 17, Lulu, Wakka, Kimahri, and Auron were all over 21 (22, 23, 25, and 35 respectively).

He's 17 when he makes First Class, then he gets stuck in a vat for 5 years.
edit: was off one year. Four years in the vat, can't remember how long the escape takes so he's either 17 or 18 when he makes First Class.
