So last Friday I spent the afternoon teaching my 9 year old sister how to paint.
We set up a still life in the studio, grabbed some paint and some canvas and got to work. 4 hours later we both came out with completed paintings.
We started with vine charcoal drawings, very simple and straightforward.
Some constructive criticism (I was surprised at how well she took suggestions and criticism without getting discouraged and frustrated)
We got into painting after about half and hour to 45 minutes of drawing.

And for a 9 year old, that's a pretty kick ass first attempt at still life.....actually it's a kick ass first attempt for anyone of any age.
It's because I'm an amazing teacher.
Really cool you two.
Jesus, I'm old.

I kid, this is obviously great. I was pretty pleased when I managed to get my 8 year old brother to actually draw something before putting paint on it, so I can also respect the fact that you got her to go through the entire process.
I really hope your sister stays interested too.
