There are basically no free agent goalies better than Nabokov at this point.
Chances are Cory Schneider is going to be traded as long as he has a decent start as a backup for the Canucks. He's too good a goalie to be a backup to Luongo and only play 10 or so games a year.
They'll be moving him soon while his stock is high I'm sure.

Alright, time to cheer for the Leafs until they miss the playoffs again, and then hop back on the Penguins bandwagon. It's worked pretty well the last couple seasons. Much better than the years where the Leafs would tease me by making it to the post-season and pretending that this might be the year, no really.
You guys think the blackhawks will over achieve again this year and make the playoffs ? was up in chicago right at the end of their run and thats all everyone was talking about.

maybe they will just have fights and lose games all season
EDIT: Also, Red Wings versus St. Louis Oct. 2nd in Stockholm, Sweden. How fucking rad is that?
Man, there are still many tickets left. I would go if I had more than £50 to my name. I could always just max out my CC and hope that I that nude modelling job comes through.
I'm so excited for this season. I really wish I didn't move to the UK. 3 AM starts for Canucks games are not ideal.

Despite my team allegiances, this picture was too good to pass up as an avatar.

Getting a little choked up by that Fleury clip is entirely manly, right?
I heard this morning that the Panthers may actually be in worse financial shape than the Coyotes and that Dallas, Atlanta and at least a couple other teams are not too far behind. Earth to NHL: stop expanding into the southern US. If they only get snow once a decade and it's the end of the world when they do, you will not make money from hockey there.
The other team I forgot was Long Island. They apparently need a completely new arena in order to regain solvency. I can't figure out the NHL's opposition to having another team in Ontario. People in Hamilton are frighteningly rabid hockey fans and I cannot imagine a team here losing money.

Phoenix should go back to it's rightful position as the Winnipeg Jets

Why this will not happen is beyond me.
They sold out every game
I have trouble wrapping my mind around the NHL's decisions. It's like they hate fans and/or making money.
So how does the phoenix situation work now? They have $15 tickets to the home opener still available ($15!!!!!!!!) but... they are bankrupt. They are continuing to sign new players... but they are bankrupt.
A quick look at their schedule reveals that the only times they are getting any TV coverage is when they're playing Canadian teams and RDS, CBC or TSN picks it up.

A large part of this (from what I've heard) is that their arena, even if renovated, would still be the smallest arena in the NHL by far.
Not saying that they don't deserve a team, just that it's not quite as simple as 'they have a lot of fans!' I believe corporate sponsorship also has something to do with it.

then nobody will have any hope at all

That's too bad - they always had full arenas and seemed like a team that actually deserved to stay there.
Seriously though, make the playoffs this year plz
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.

The AHL team already there draws flies.
For my money, Winnipeg is a much better fit.
