Yeah this is one of the biggest issues. It sucks too cause I JUST bought a gamepad and it doesn't seem to want to work with it. I'm not gonna buy another one just for this, so I just got used to the controls as they are. They're really not that bad except an analog stick would be really nice for driving so I'm not taking such sharp turns every time I tap a key... They seriously should have taken like, just one extra hour to implement mouse support in menus. It's atrocious to navigate it as is. Mouse is pretty nice for aiming though.

Yeah I can't get my PS3 controller to work in it. I can get all the buttons except the face buttons to register.

Game runs fine-ish on foot, but man it runs like terrible when I'm driving. Makes for a frustrating experience, especially when it does that stall to load a new area. It's too bad, cause I really could see myself enjoying this more.

Can you describe the terrible? I am running Win7, quad core i7 2.66, 6gb ddr3, but a measly 9500GT and the game seems to run fine other than the totally horrible, abysmal, dog kicking, shitty ass controls.

I found that WASD also works in the menus in the same role of shift/ctrl. Though when you have to pick colors and stuff with the arrow keys I get them confused sometimes and it changes to another item category instead.

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to lower a car off a tow truck after you've lifted it?

I picked this up because hey, five bucks. I want to like it but performance issues are killing it. I have a 2.2GHz E4500, ATI HD4670, 4GB RAM. Not the best but I can run better looking games with better performance. The major slowdowns occur when driving, everything staggers every few seconds while it's doing what, loading data from disk? Judging by travathian's comment, I might assume that this game is CPU bound more than it is GPU. I also am running Windows 7.

Yea, to get a smooth frame rate my game has zero lighting and shadows, and it looks like ye olde games with everything being perfectly lit.

This game isn't very nice to older generation cards, or the second step down in the card hierarchy, eg. 8800's or gts240-ish (I think? nvidia's scheme turned gobbledegook for me again).

Me, Punkboy412, Adus, Woggle, donhonk, Morkath, Revenge, and Buttcleft all did some testing of Gangsta Brawl (deathmatch), and Strong Arm (team based activities for cash) multiplayer modes. First of all, Strong Arm totally rules. It's about a 30 minute game and totally nuts. I think this is going to be the game of choice for multi. Gangster Brawl are much shorter 4 minute games. Pretty fun, but kind of plain vanilla deathmatch.

We had some technical problems getting everyone connected (and staying connected,) but all put our heads together and figured out why. You will need to forward port 4200 both TCP and UDP, and also possibly reboot your router before multi will work correctly. If you don't forward this port, you'll connect to the game, and then disconnect almost immediately.

We used the Steam voice chat in the Gentlemen of the Row group channel just for testing which turned out to be terrible quality. Future games will likely be using the PA Ventrilo server for voice chat. PTT is extremely hard for anyone using a gamepad, so please be understanding of open mic users during the games.

Also, make sure to configure your multiplayer character (under the Multiplayer menu) before joining a game so that you can load your saved character from single player instead of getting some random one.

Also, guys stop by the Gentlemen of the Row chat and hang out. It's really started picking up these last few days with more and more people in chat, and it's really easy to get a coop game going with other players (and now Strong Arm games too.)

Multiplayer was totally insane with 6. I can't even begin to imagine the chaos with 16. :D

EDIT: Also, people who were having performance issues were saying the multiplayer ran better than single player, probably because of the smaller maps. So anyone having performance issues may have better luck trying Strong Arm with us.

My 9500GT plays it fine, got it for $30 after rebate. Looks like Newegg has a number of them for $35 after rebate. Course, I am only playing at 1600x1200, so that could be it too, or that my mb/proc/memory are all near top of the line, but I have all the graphics settings cranked to max and I get virtually no slow down.

As to the Win7 thing, I am running build 7100 with all available updates and all the latest approved drivers. Are those of you with Win7 having problems on older build? Older drivers?

Gansta Brawl I think will be perfect to play just to get people warmed up or while we are waiting for more to show up and get started. For the Strong Arm, under multiplayer there is a tutorial along with tutorials of all the various sub parts, people might want to check that out before hand so they know what is going on. I'll be the first to call anti-dibs on graffiti work because I am absolutely terrible at it with either k+m or gamepad.
